white ceramic diver

I just took a look on the AP site, the last time I looked on the ROO "self winding" models, there was only the 2 SS divers, now there is also the white ceramic diver, I thought they were discontinued as well as the black ones, could it be they are not discontinued?

Is that the case or maybe AP has a lot in stock and decided to put it back on their site for potential clients.

Does anyone know about this?

I must say I would be glad if the black ceramic would stay discontinued as IMO it adds rarity and exclusivity to this watch, and that's good for actual owners

That's cool Thomas, won't be here but in Odessa, too bad we could've met up and gone watch hunting, it's open season

Any watch purchase in mind on this trip to Paris? A diver perhaps

I remember inquiring about the white ceramic offshores at my AD a couple weeks ago. He mentioned that they were tougher to get than the normal offshores but did not mention anything about them being discontinued.

Well at a point there was only the 2 SS divers and a few members were told by their AD that the ceramic were being discontinued, at least the black ones, it would be strange if AP discontinued the black and not the white as the blacks have much more demand than white ones, I would tend to think that they have still quite a few white ones in stock and put them back on the site for potential buyers to see and make requests at AD's or boutiques, but that's just a supposition from my part.

We will see in the coming weeks, if anyone has a good contact with their AP dealer would be good to ask, I am going to write an email to the director of the AP showroom who sold me mine to ask him, will post the result of my inquiry.

just curious, but where is the best place (aka price) to buy AP in Paris in your view?

Well I got mine through the AP private showroom, I was given 10% off on it and I mostly heard that this was one of the models on which the boutiques didn't make any discount… One of the TRF members here called them for a 15400 and was told that it was 0% off that model, maybe he wanted the blue dial 15400 but still strange that they did me 10% off a ceramic diver and him 0% off a 15400, but I was dealing directly with the showroom director, maybe since he was in contact with a saleslady that made a big difference, who knows…

Apart from there and the AP boutique which is now closed, I never went to any AP AD since the only pieces for which I was interested were the Jumbo and the ceramic diver, 2 pieces which as I was told were boutique only pieces...

I spoke to the boutique in bal harbour today. They said they had multiples of both black and white divers. They also had an anthracite, but no white 44 novelties.

Well that they still have in stock is one thing but are they still producing them is another, I just wrote an email to the guy who sold me mine, he's the director of the AP private showroom in Paris to ask him about that, kind of hoping they stopped production on the black ones as I prefer to have 1 in 600-700 than 1 in 5.000

I don't think people were told that AP was discontinuing production of the black ceramic pieces, but rather that they had stopped for a while as they were having technical difficulties with making/machining the cases. Still producing both white and black ceramic divers, as well as the white and black ceramic 44mm novelties (all four in stock in NY boutique). They are understandably making significantly fewer of the white pieces as they will not be as popular among most people. White ceramic is currently boutique only and might stay that way for a few months, but I'd expect it to end up at ADs by October as is usually the case when boutiques are overstocked and AP wants to clean out inventory before year end.

I got my AP Diver ceramic in March 2014 through my AD here in Singapore. At the time this watch was very rare to see and general consensus was that this is a boutique only piece. Obviously that was not true and I was also given a 10% discount on it plus I claimed tax back.
You can never be too sure about what you hear from the ADs.

Regards.

Well I understand but had heard they were discontinued for good, what is strange is why were they taken off the AP website and why did they put back only the white but not the black? In any case I don't regret 1 second getting it, wether 600 or 5.000 pieces made, even if a low production digit would have been very cool

Well you got exactly the same conditions as I did, 10% plus 16.7% tax refund.
Of course who here trusts one second what an AD is going to tell you, except if the AD is your brother

I was told by the Las Vegas boutique that the black was discontinued. They were showing me several pieces including a black on they had. She stated she could still get some (back in may) but no more were in production.

When I visited the Geneva boutique 10 days ago they told me that both black and white Divers were still in production.

The black ceramic ROO Diver is Boutique only – as relayed by the Zurich Boutique & Service Centre. Been that way for best part of 2 years now.
The website only shows models generally available, but limited and special editions are not since they're only for the AP Boutiques or exclusive to specific retailers like Wempe, Boucherer, etc.
