I was going to suggest a DJ/DJII or a JLC Reverso or something from their MUT line.

As Travis said, spend some time trying on different models and seeing what sings to you. For me, I would go subc.

I think your first Rolex should be new. With your budget you have three really great choices with many great dial choices.
Oyster Perpetual Date Just Date JustII Any of these would be an outstanding starting point and would fall well within your budget. A SS DatejustII with a smooth bezel, oyster bracelet and silver face is a stunner. See my pic! And falls within your price point new. |

these are all great suggestions! I def will go and try on a few. Maybe one will catch my eye more then the ones i have in mind. From all the research i have done, the GMT is the one that has really stood out to me. But it may be one of those things where you see pics and fall in love with something, then you try it on and are like ugh, its not what I expected.

Something to consider is the size of the dial, and why a few here suggested for you to go to an AD to see how various watches will actually look on your wrist
I bought a Subc for my first Rolex yet w/my 7.75" wrist size...it's almost under sized for my wrist That said, I actually went into an AD before I bought my Subc, yet they didn't have any 44mm dials for me to try on. If you have a smaller wrist, a 40mm dial will likely be a non issue. Others may have better and different ideas |

Definitely the blue-dialed Rolesium Yacht-Master! The contrast amongst the 950 platinum, the blue sunburst and the red accents just makes this watch so stunning and classy. Perfect bridge between sporty and dressy too!

Come on, of course the Submariner... that's like asking what color your first Ferrari should be.
In all seriousness, I think Sub would definitely do the trick, but Explorer II, GMT, or DateJust are all great options. |

A sub works with a suit, but a DJ (36) is classier IMO. Given the wide range of dial/bezel/bracelet permutations a DJ allows you to express a bit more individuality. With a Sub you will see a bunch of other guys in the office wearing the identical watch. I'm not saying the sub is not cool, but I would get the DJ first.

Same. I would go and have gone with the Explorer 1 as my first Crown. As mentioned, it goes with anything and everything. It's understated and has been my constant companion in all my foreign travels. I prefer the 39mm over the 36mm Date Just.

I'd say a DJII with a black dial and smooth bezel. I think it does well with everything, but a better choice in a suit over a Rolex sports model. With a black dial, it will dress down well too.
