Hi Ryan and Mark.
That is simply the most amazing movement I have ever seen. I shudder to think at how much the service would cost.

IMHO JLC is "the" upcoming high end brand.
You can see slight hints at JLC soon positioning themselves up with the "big 3". They have put up prices, starting price on a Master Control is like 6-7 grand now. The have expanded their manufactory, they now produce serious high end stuff. Im hoping to add a JLC to the collection as soon they will also be in the utra pricey range. |

I saw this model at a post-SIHH event hosted by JLC. It's a pretty impressive piece and they also showed a video of the assembly as well as technical characteristics of the tourbillon.
I second what Sub2004 has said. The JLC Master series is quite elegant, but I'm tossing between the Duometre chronograph, or the re-edition Polaris as my JLC. I have till September to decide when they both come in!! |

That is simply awsome.
I have browsed their site, and i think i will be ordering, i may go fro the chronograph, or geography, but i want to see if the gyroturbilion will power any of their 'profesional' watches first. With something ths beeutiful, price wil not be an option. It is simply overwhelming. I am a little confused though. The link shows a video of the reverso with the gyroturbilion2 but the website only shows it available in the gyroturbilion1....hmmm Jedi, what can you tell me about their mechanism standard, timekeeping, accuracy and etc... will this gyroturbillion be suseptable to knocks and a ahrd life?

Steve,
There is a toubillon model for a sports model. The AMVOX III. Check it out. It's designed as a robust everyday where everywhere tourbillon. The Gyro2 did not look to me like a everyday sports beater. The Amvox III was designed with Aston Martin and has a driver's heritage on the dial design and so on and so forth. I know you drive a lot Steve, so that could be cool for you!! Here's a link to the SIHH event I was talking about: http://www.horomundi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5140 and http://www.horomundi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5114 In terms of accuracy and precision, everyone I've spoken to/email'd and chatted to on forums report a very decent +2/day. Even my dad's vintage TT Reverso which is over 15 years old and never serviced returns +1/day on a timing machine. Mechanism standards from JLC are impeccable. They are a manufacture and all their movements are in-house. Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin still use JLC movements in their production. |

@ mach330 - Ouch!!!!!!!
@ sub2004 - I tend to agree! @ Jedi - Thank you for the additional information. After perusing their website this morning, I must say that their collection is awesome, to say the least. And on a personal level, far more aesthetically pleasing than Patek Phillipe. And you fathers TT Reverso has incredible accuracy, considering its age and the fact that it has never been serviced!! @ shedlock2000 - Good luck on your prospective order. Don't forget to post pics!! 100th Post! WooHoo

Jedi Brother,
If i had the choice, i would go for the Duometrie, it is sublime and beautiful. The movement is stunning. But Polaris Re-edition is also very nice, but i love the Duometrie becuase of movement construction and finish. Cheers |

sub2004, both those watches are on my radar.
The JLC people in town have promised me first rights of refusal on each one as they are available. I'm leaning towards the Duometre as a modern classic. The Polaris... way cool, but I'm somewhat getting colder towards it. I'm very very impressed with the Duometre's movement and design though. |

Brother Jedi
I would say go for the Duometrie. It is truly a work of art. I note that you already have some very fine watches and this compliment and enhance your collection. I am getting a "Master Date" next month as this is within my humble budget and i have never owned a JLC but have always admired the brand. I would like a Master Calendar but it is 10,000 in Australia and a bit too much for me as i also want a Panerai for maybe christmas. I think with the Polaris, although very nice, it does not ahve the same pedigree as the Duometrie in terms of movement finish and achievement as a masterpiece. But as always my friend, in the end it is about what smiles at you. Regards |

I just got a price in an email when inquiring direct for information from my AD, They now have two models with the Gyroturbillion, both sold out, and a limited manufactor number, and both over $310,000...... apparently i wont be having one then!

That is something else. I have a dated JLC catalogue that shows the Gyrotourbillon 1, but it's even more amazing in the Reverso style. Info taken from p. 208 of my catalogue for the 1:
"As the first ever creation of its kind the world, the spherical tourbillon by Jaeger-LeCoultre marks a new chapter in the art of watchmaking. Nestling at the heart of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 177, it is associated with some fascinating complications: a running equation of time and a perpetual calendar equipped with four retrograde hands. Two barrels with sapphire crystal bases and covers guarantee an 8-day power-reserve for the Grande Complication model. Movement: mechanical manually-wound, 659 parts, patented spherical tourbillon, 21,600 vibrations per hour; two barrels, 8-day power reserve. Functions: hour, minute, seconds, sper-reserve, running solar time (equation of time), perpetual calendar indication by two retrograde hands (from 1 to 16, and from 16 to 28, 29, 30 or 31). perpetual retrograde indication of months, retrograde indication of leap years on the reverse side of the watch." The Gyrotourbillon 1 is available in a limited series of 85 in 950 platinum.
