I'd keep it and shop around for a better service cost. Is this a routine service or is there more to it?

I'm having mine done through and authorized repair person for $600 + cost of crown replacement ($75 I believe). Quite a bit less and it will come with full 2 yr. Rolex warranty. Seems awfully expensive what you are being charged.

The 14060M is the last great Rolex sport watch IMO. I wouldn't trade it straight across for any current Rolex sport watch, let alone spend an extra $2K.

Why 1k? I had mine done 2-3 years ago at RSC.. even needing a new crown tube it was around 700. Mine is a 1999 and it was its first ever service. It sounds kinda high unless they found a lot wrong with it.

I really like the 14060... it's a classic.

It depends on a lot of variables. But I'd lean towards keeping my original watch.

i'm so sorry guys... i have been completely swamped with work and forgot to check comments. =(

just to clarify, i rounded off for the servicing... just to lessen the blow if opting for an upgrade? ha. i don't have any problems with my 2008. i just heard you need to service it around the 7 year mark? if anyone can correct me, please do. it should cost around $650 to $800 at RSC.

i am the 2nd owner of the watch. I bought it from DavidSW? back in 2010, so it's been a while.

the 14060m is my daily watch. other 2 watches i have are the Seiko 7A20 series, the james bond watch i got off ebay and a cool forum member from sweden that gifted me.

i do love the classic look of my 14060 and sometimes feel the newer models do have big numbers and hour marks... altho i do love the new clasp and feel to the newer models... that's why i was giving it a thought... since i had to pay around 6 to 8 hundred to get it serviced, maybe put 1500 or so more and upgrade...

thanks everyone for your feedback. it seems many of you voted to keep the watch. it does look very classy i have to say and i can wear it casually with shorts or with a suit and tie. very versatile, although many consider it a tool/beater watch.

Would expect the service to cost quite a bit less than the $1,and in the real world little has changed movement wise since 1988.Sure there have been a few mods and cosmetic changes and 2008 sure is not old for any Rolex.Get your 14060M serviced then you will have two full years Rolex warranty as any new watch woild have. Then watch should be good for another 10-30 years trouble free watch wearing.

So wear it and enjoy

I have an 08 also, M serial 4 liner and would recommend keeping yours. They go SO well on Natos or leather straps and are light to wear.So I say keep that , get a better service price and save for another Rolex. One IS enough but two [or more] is lots of fun!

If the watch is working well then why service it; on the other hand if it run down quickly or isn't tracking time accurately then it is time for a service. Otherwise wear and enjoy it. All that glistens is not golden...

Upgrade to the current production sub if you are able to spare the $$.
The bracelet and clasp alone cost ~2k.

14060 even though a classic there's loads on the market to get your hands on again.

It seems that the general consensus is that you don't need to service the watch on a schedule - rather, wait until it starts to have trouble keeping time.

The exception, of course, is if it's just old, like 20 years or more. Then you should probably do it, even if it's keeping good time.

Otherwise, I'd go to a shop and try on the new SubC and see if it speaks to you. Keep going back until you decide that you just must have it, or no, it's nothing special.
