Would you trade

Ladies and gents, I am rather torn here. I am a proud owner of a white dial 34mm air king 114200. It has recently not been getting enough wrist time and I am seriously contemplating trading it in plus cash for a 114060. Would you do it? I love the classic lines and look of the air king. But I also love the bracelet of the sub. The ceramic bezel and heck...what's not to love. I have in my stable a milgauss GV, a GS SBGR 083 and a nomos Orion.

Has anyone of you ever traded in an air king for a sub? Would you do it? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you all

Brgds/Patrick

Are you emotionally connected to the Air King? Does it have significant meaning? If not, I would totally trade it in for a Sub. I have two old triple date speedys I would never sell -- they were my first "luxury" watches, and I know I would regret selling them. I gave one to my dad, and keep the other (even though it gets almost zero wear these days).

Never had an Air King, and though I think they're fabulous watches, my favourite is still the Submariner.

If I was in your position, unless I had a sentimental attachment to the Air King or finances prohibited owning both, then I'd do the swap!

I'm extremely biased as a total SS sports watch aficionado but, as others have said, unless you have an emotional attachment to the Air King, then do it

I'm lucky enough to have both, I have large hands & wrists so the AK doesn't seem to look right on me. But, I love it & don't want to part with it, the history, the shape, everything, so when I was in your position I decided just to save a bit longer till I could afford the Sub.

This isn't making it easier. :)

But then again this is sound advice. I do love the history the classic looks, the dial and everything there is about the air king. Which is why making this decision is so difficult.

Time, however is something that I don't have right now as I have another child on the way. And getting the 114060 is something I want to do as this will be a birth year watch. I bought a Milgauss GV on the year that my firstborn joined us. Which is why I am making this drastic move.

Unless the Air King had any major sentimental value I would definitely make that trade and even if the watch had sentimental value I would seriously consider it anyway.

Sorry to make your decision harder, I just love my AK, the simplicity, proportions etc 😊. Make the trade with my blessing, I'll dedicate the next wearing of my AK to you, which I'm sure will pacify the Rolex Gods!

It seems to me this is the perfect reason to get the Sub. I would definitely make the trade.

Does the AK 34mm fit well? If so, then perhaps would be a reason to keep it.
But if your larger watches work better for you, and there's no other reason to keep the AK, make the move!

Make the trade, and quickly! Soon your priority will not be "which watch" but "where's the wipes?" Congratulations on the human incoming, and when time allows, show us pictures of your new Sub!

If you can get worthwhile money for the AK do it, but if you love it, and you don't get a good trade, save that bit more and get both.
