Need some guidance with picking a watch for wedding present

First, congratulations! :-)

Second question: what watches does he currently own? That gives you an idea if he has a consistent style or color palette choice. For example, if all he wears are square watches (an extreme example), a Rolex may not be the best choice...

Next, I would suggest both of you go to a watch store and see if there is a watch he fawns over. After all, jewelry and watches are personal. I won't buy a piece of jewelry without knowing my GF indicates she wants it (surprise is good, bad surprise is not good).

Most people is this forum is probably subconciously replying on what they wanted their wife to buy them :-)

Good luck and have fun!

Datejust 1. Cheap and sweet. Pick one from the mid 90's and make sure the dial speaks "fuck yes hell yeah". Or save up until your dead and buy a patek

Sub routinely sells for $7400. BLNR is $9000. OP says budget is $8-$10K.

Easy. Get BLNR!

BLNR is my first and only Rolex. It ticks all the right boxes! Everyone will love getting BLNR!
No brainer!

POlished center links are not for everyone actually, also splash of color is amazing IMO but also not for everyone.

I love the BLNR and I hope own one soon but the more I read through this thread I think the best thing to do is take a trip to the AD with your fiancé and get a feel for what he likes. We all just may be surprised.

Take him to an authorised dealer, have him try a few pieces within your budget and take it from there :)

Agreed. Have him go with you...he can pick, and will always cherish the memories of the moment of you two shopping together.

My husband wanted to get me a Rolex for our 10th anniversary (years ago). I am glad that he didn't just get me what I had thought I wanted, because when I tried it on in person, it didn't thrill me. I then found the platinum/SS Yachtmaster (a watch that was not on my radar) in the display case. I loved the way it looked on my wrist, and picked that one out. I've been wearing it nearly every day for 14+ years, and love the way it looks on me. I still get a little thrill of enjoyment when I look at it.
