Oh dear. Strange actually since he obviously knows Rolex and the basics of what constitutes a quartz movement. I'd have told him to google it. The prat.

I would have corrected him, at least given him some doubt and food for thought come the next time he opens his mouth.

I don't know why. Just my crazy sense of humor I guess.
Hart Bochner if memory serves. Good actor.

How rude! The OP handled it well. Every now and then obnoxious people come up and say ridiculous things to total strangers. I don't bother engaging them.

There's a lesson there that I keep running across:
Unless you are a 'real expert', there are always things about any 'topic' that you didn't know.
For e.g. if somebody had told me there was a Rolex with a wooden dial I would have been sceptical - but there you go!
These days with smart phones, it doesn't pay to be too definite about anything.
Too easy to be proven wrong on the spot.
A quick search for "Oyster Quartz" would have saved Boof-head making a fool of himself.

As my father would say, "Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt."

Great thread Paul.

The Rolex OQ models give you the best of both movements.

I'm still trying to get past the part where you kept your mouth shut.
