They should have links at any AD still, if you are lucky you might get it for free!

Well, if he had been in the USA, you are correct. In the rest of the world you actually get something called customer service at the ADs. I have my watches pressure tested for free every year at an AD where I live. I never bought anything from them. I offer to pay every time and they always answer that it is of no cost. And yes, I know you could get a spare link for free if you are a known face.
