RSC confiscate your old bracelet when buying new one?

Good morning guys, is it true that rolex service center will confiscate your old bracelet when you purchase a new one from them?

My dad rose gold daydate with jubelee bracelet has been wearing for 10 years and the bracelet is quite stretch and loose now. he wanted to buy a new bracelet from rsc but was told that he cannot keep the old one as it is against rolex policy.

i know this is true if you are replacing the internal movement parts but does it apply to bracelet also ?

When I inquired about a new bracelet, RSC offered a trade in value on the old toward a new bracelet. I don't recall it being a mandatory trade in but financially it was an incentive.

You could bring in watch head only and just ask for a replacement bracelet and deny having the original.

You could also have Michael Young restore the bracelet to like new condition and for much, much less cost. It'll take 4-6 weeks, at least.

Yeah I was thinking remove the bracelet myself and just bring to watch but am afraid rsc insist I must have a complete watch. Btw that rsc is in Singapore I don't know elsewhere I can keep the old bracelet or not. I can sell the old bracelet for some money and maybe buy a new oyster perpetual.

I purchased a jubilee replacement for my 16750 GMT and a super jubilee for my turnograph from RSC Canada. This was a walk in visit in each case and they installed the bracelet and returned the original.

I don't recall that the Daydate came on a Jubilee bracelet..

In any event, the solid gold bracelets for a Daydate run round 20,000.00USD and so a trade in of the old bracelet can help offset that cost. If the old bracelet is worn out I'm not sure why you would want to keep it.

RSC confiscate your old bracelet when buying new one?

My advice is go and ask them, I serviced a GMT and asked to replace the black insert for a Pepsi insert; but wanted to keep the black one, they said no problem. A bracelet might be different, but by asking you don't loose anything. As suggested above Michael Young is a good and less expensive option.

I am no expert, but I think some Day-Date models came with Jubilee bracelet. My fathers 1960's Day-Date came with one.
I have the same stretch problem; using it on strap for the moment, but soon will be shipped to HK.

Ship it to MY in HK. Here's a before and after of what he did for my gold jubilee (my grandpa's daily beater for 30 years). His price to repair it was about $1,200:

I heard a lot about Michael Young in this forum and know he does excellent job for bracelet. Before consider Michael, I might ask rsc again about the trade in and whether they will sell a new bracelet without old one attached to the watch next time I visit Singapore. Cheers.

Or use Beste Juwelier in Winterberg Germany for some very fine magic as well with a faster turn around

Rolex policies are stupid, you paid for the bracelet when you bought the watch, what right do they have to take the old bracelet back when you by a new one, or a bezel, or anything...

I suggest to give them a call. Ask for their SOP on bracelet sales and price.
There after make the necessary arrangements to get the item.

But bringing the watch in without the bracelet ensures that they does not keep the old one.
Go lucky plaza besides RSC, there's private operating watch techs that can remove your bracelet.

Interesting topic. Hypothetically: would love to get back my old bracelet after having it replaced, carries so much history. It's been with me every single day.

Exactly, if we are going to spend so much money on a new solid gold bracelet we want to keep the old one also. I don't see any reason why rsc want to confiscate it.
