GMT Batman in VN

Hello all ,
I've checked out the GMT Batman at the Authorized Rolex in Vietnam( Diamond Shopping Center, next to the Notre Dame de Saigon ).
The sale lady ( MH ) did the math, ( retail price minus VAT tax will be refunded to buyer at the airport when you leaving the country ) and told me the final cost should be $8800.
Not bad ! Hong Kong or Singapore have better deals and watch available ?
Nathan

Not bad? From an AD? I think that's excellent.

retail in USA is 8950.... doesn't sound like you're saving much.
if you want it go for it, but you will still have to pay duties when you bring it back into the country which would negate any of the savings

Another case for buying at home...unless you find it a thrill to buy on vacay.

I've bought my missed dream watch the Classic GMT M Serial 3186 error stick dial from Carfreak !
How could you get through the US Custom officer wearing 1 brand new GMT on the right wrist , and the Rolex Exploer II M Serial 3186 on the left ! t

Don't mean to hijack the thread. For those who travel and bring multiple watches with them, how does one prove ownership when returning home?

Wow, a whole $150 savings. You can get them in the US for much less than $8800 new, without the trip to Vietnam.

I just wear it. Also definitely need to point out I do not reside in a country where this is an issue nor do I need to declare it as it is a personal item.

I have a Canadian passport but I am a visitor to Canada when I fly back there. In VN I do not have to pay tax on my personal possessions however I cannot claim a tax refund and wear the watch back into the country.

Every situation is different from country to country. My wife is Vietnamese and will travel with her VN receipt from the AD to avoid any issues.
