Clasp issue - Air-King 114210
The clasp of my Air-king pops open sometimes. I first noticed this when diving into a pool, then while swimming in the ocean. Both scary experiences, all of a sudden the watch was open and down my forearm while in the water. Let's just say I don't want to repeat that.
So what are my options? I'd like to be able to wear the watch in the water, but I'm nervous about the clasp popping open and losing the watch. I could, of course, take my watch off or wear a different watch with a more reliable clasp (e.g. explorer or sub), but I'm wondering if any TRF members have come up with a fix for this issue with the 114210 clasp? Thanks. |

It's easy to tighten the clasp. It shouldn't open on its own. I'm pretty sure Youtube will have a video on how to tighten it, but if you're not comfortable messing with it yourself, just take it to a reputable watchmaker. It shouldn't cost anything.

Easy fix. The rounded part of the clasp just below the outer clasp has probably straightened a little, so the clasp edge doesn't bite enough anymore to hold the clasp firmly closed. Just bend it a little bit and the clasp will be fine.

Sounds like a Submariner is in order!
![]() Just bend the flange closest to the clasp and flatten the other flange a little bit.

.
114210 have a "new generation" 70190 Oyster bracelet , so it's not so easy to correct this issue by yourself. You better should ask an AD's watchamaker to do the job. |

I have a 116000 with the same clasp and never had any issue but I can see how this could happen if one would wear the watch very loose. Do you wear it loose on you wrist?

Thanks for the responses.
It is a newer style oyster bracelet, so it's not easy to bend the components of the clasp. I do wear the watch a tad loose (I can get a pinky between the watch and my wrist with some effort). My clasp does not have a spring at all. Do the newest oyster bracelets on the 116000 for example, have any spring action in the clasp. I feel like that would help solve my issue. I |
