Sometimes even God misses a thing or three.
Now that's my kind of function.

For the past several years WatchTime sponsored a yearly event called Inside Basel/Geneva (IBG). It was held in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and LA.
Each event was one evening only, starting at 5:30 with drinks and appetizers and about 15 watch brands on display. At 7:30 a wonderful 3 course dinner was served with a 90 minute presentation by Jeff Kingston on what was new in Basel that year. A truly memorable event each year. My most memorable moment was 3 years ago when I walked in and the first booth, right at the entrance was a display by Antoine Martin. And who is standing there but Martin Braun. I broke out in a cold sweat as I just happened to be wearing my NOTOS. I had to thank Mr. Braun for creating such a wonderful watch and one of the greatest watches I own. He seemed truly humbled and thanked me for being so appreciative of his watch. HE THANKED ME! What a nice guy. Anyway, I am really sad to see IBG leave LA. I don't know why they left, but I really miss that show. NYC is just a little too far to travel from LA to look at watches. I'm going to take a guess here, but each IBG event had about 150 - 200 attendees. The NY event had 600 - 700. So all the watch vendors had to make only one trip to show their watches to the same number of people. Maybe that had something to do with it. |

Yup. Went to the reception on Friday. I've gone to them for the past 3 years. Went to the one at the Union League in Philly when I was in that area and they held one at the Pierre Hotel in NYC last year. They just switched over to this two day set up for the event versus doing the Inside Basel through several cities. I honestly did enjoy the Inside Basel event a little more since there was a reception, presentation, and dinner. Perhaps that's just me being a glutton though. Had the opportunity to meet up with a bunch of fellow aficionados. Always a good time!

Nice pics..
Thanks for the wrist shots, looks like it was nice evening.
I went to one of their old IBG events in PHL several years ago at the Union League. It was nice, although I would rate my overall experience at Salon QP in London (coming up!) higher. Sounds like WT have gotten out of the "dinner and a show" business and concentrated on allowing WIS and potential customers to really engage with the brands and timepieces. I think the earlier poster is onto something in that consolidating their show to one big event makes it easier and more profitable for WT and the brands that pay to display. The WT event was nice in that the Editor in Chief Joe Thompson and other reporters like Mike Disher and Mark Bernardo etc... mixed and mingled throughout the evening. I had a memorable conversation with Joe Thompson about his visit to Rolex SA and his exclusive interview with then Chairman Patrick Heiniger. Looks like lots of "wish lists" were made that night too!
