An amazingly pristine calibre 645
I know some of you all like the innards a bit.
Rarely does one come across a movement in this kind of condition. It is 62 years old roughly. The plates are near mint with full luster. The screw heads are pristine mostly. Just a stunning condition movement. I just finished cleaning it and about ready to install the dial and hands. |

Beauty T. & the screws are not ruined by a wrong size or dull tool. I wish I looked as new after 62 years :-)

The only one that is even slightly altered is the upper train bridge screw which very likely was the balance bridge screw. I will switch them out.
The balance bridge gets removed a bunch and would have also been the one removed if the watch had been sent for "re oiling" as many were in the day. My father's watch has a factory note with it saying it was sent back to the factory for re oiling as it has been in inventory for a while. I really don't think this watch had ever seen a screwdriver and I didn't leave that mark. :-) When you get a movement as nice as this you just go even FURTHER to not make a mark. It doesn't even have any track from the independent drive wheel for the sweep seconds being previously removed. I have some new screws...I may just put one in place of it :-) |
