GMT 16700 bracelet question

I've just acquired a '97/'98 GMT16700 on a 78790 bracelet fitted with 501B endlinks. Can any experts tell me if this is correct? From what I gather the 78360 was fitted with 501Bs but I can't find out about mine. Also, which bracelet was produced first? Your responses much appreciated as always.

Does the code on the bracelet match the year production of the watch?

Here is some information:

Thanks, I've seen that reference page which only states... '78790 (Oysterlock starting 1989)'. The watch is U serial number, so around 1997. The 78790, therefore, is correct but I wondered about the endlinks? Anyone out there got a 78790 bracelet?

501B is correct for the 78790 bracelet.

The 78790 with 501B's was the last of the "hollow" link bracelet. The following 78790A was fitted with SEL's around 2000.
