Sinn Advice?

Guys

Following the recent Omega price increase the Moonwatch now sits at over £2000 and I'm starting to think of another day to day type watch!

What do you guys think of Sinn watches.

I recently saw this and fell in love...

Picture Sinnwatches.com

I think with the date in German...this is a pretty neat watch...for £900 new!!!!

Any advice?

Jim, I didnt know that Omega had recently raised prices.
Can you tell me off the tip of your tongue how much the following Speedy Pro's are now in Sterling ?.......
1. 3870.50.31......Hesalite with strap.
2. 3573.50.00......Sapphire with bracelet.
3.311.30.42.30.01.001......Patch.

These are the three that I have narrowed it down to, and an update on price could make all the difference in the decision making process.......thanks.

I like Sinn watches and may even own one someday. I like the Sinn U series watches which are made from U boat steel and feature an tegimented hardening process.

The only two I saw were trad. moonwatch on bracelet about £2050 and moonwatch anniversary patch about £2300.

I'm a little fed up about this as I was looking forward to a moonwatch this xmas but £2000 is used Pepsi GMT money!!!!!

I have a Sinn. 356 Valjoux movement chronograph.
Been thinking about a 656

Great watches!
Fairly priced, compared to Rolex.

I think they are not popular in the States because they don't have a dealer network

I've been asking around too on several Sinn enthusiast forums. My concern was after service support/warranty issues. In the US, Watchbuys is the only AD and RGM the only US authorized service repair shop. RGM seems like a specialty shop not a huge repair facility. Their own watches are great. I'd like to get their new diver one day.

Anyway, I've heard ok experiences from RGM about 6 weeks turn around for those who sent watches in for repair. But being the only authorized repair facility in the US regulating a watch can take up to 6 weeks.

Sending a watch to Germany on the other hand's a whole different story. Servicing as long or longer than 6 months, misplaced shipments, watches stuck in customs. Also, this may not be true anymore, but RGM does not have the equipment to fix watches that uses the dehumidifying capsules so these must be sent to Germany.

What's excellent about Rolex where I live is that you can drop off your watch at an AD and trained Rolex technicians can do warranty work (or any kind of repair work) on your watch or they can send it to an RSC and you know it'll be back soon enough.

I own a Sinn 657 and have owned many others, including a UX, U1, U2, 656, and EZM2. They make an excellent timepiece, and you usually won't run into another person wearing one at any given time. Watchbuys is the only US AD as has been said, and they are rock solid to deal with. My only experience with RGM was with a Meistersinger Scrypto I owned and it was not so pleasant, as it took 5 months to get the watch back.

Jim, thanks for the heads up about Omega prices. I was planning to get a Speedy Pro when my Derby horse wins next week....looks like I might have to reconsider.
Am I right in thinking that you come from East Anglia as well ? I seem to remember that you mentioned watch shopping in Norwich in one of your previous threads.......Norwich is certainly my favourite place to go watch shopping, and where I got my Omega SMP GMT.

Sinn makes a nice, robust, reasonably priced collection of watches. I don't think you can go wrong with one. I think they look sharp. The red against the black is awesome.

HOLY MOLEY!!! I feel your pain! 5 months?! That's the first I've heard and I'm glad I did. Being the specialty shop that RGM is and the brand having a loyal and looks like growing following, I wouldn't doubt such problems.

You know as Rolex WIS we expect decent turn around times for services. The Rolex network's everywhere! EVerybody else is catching up.

I'm still not putting off Sinn the 556 and 656 are tops!

Goldsmiths in Norwich was the exact shop that I got my Omega SMP GMT from. Got 25% off in the New Year sales this year. They have a fantastic Omega sales section just after Christmas, including the SMP that you talked about in your other thread (20% off.....£1200.00 down to £960.00), and lots of PO's etc.
I usually try on Panerai/IWC in Winsor Bishop, and if Dipples is the Rolex AD down that little alley close to Winsor Bishop I go in there occasionally to try on TT Rolex. They have a great selection there.
Maybe an East Anglian mini GTG later in the year ?

Great watches, I have a 656 and sapphire 356.* I wear the 656 probably more frequently than any other watch I own.* I really like the blue tint that the double (inside and outside the crystal) AR coating creates, it makes the black dial 'richer' somehow.* As for RGM, I have had service experience with them (on an RGM pilot watch) and the turnaround with was only a couple weeks.* So my experience with RGM has also been positive.* Anyhow, Sinn watches IMO are very well put together and I highly recommend them!

I don't think so Mark (re your question about US discounts). - at least to my knowledge. There is only one AD for Sinn in the US (again, to my knowledge). Can't hurt to ask though.
