Help Vintage Rolex datejust 1600

Hi everyone! Im a new time poster, I was just wondering if anyone can help me.

I have acquired a vintage rolex datejust 1600 circa 1972. From a jewellry store. The movement checks out, date wheel is great, jubilee bracelet is great. Dials, hands and markers all align. the only thing that I could not verify anywhere on the internet is the fact that my "oyster-perpetual" has the hyphen. And at the 6 o Clock dial it says "SWISS" and not " T Swiss T" as i thought most 1970s datejusts are supposed to do!. Thank you for replies !

What are the first three digits of the serial number? Sounds like the dial could belong to a DJ from the early 60's or before.

If all is legit then the dial is probably a service replacement.

Shine a light on it in a dark room and see if it is Luminova.

Thank you for the answers, however I do think it is luminova here i think i can link this picture of it! and yes everything else checks out and is kosher, i just cannot confirm the "SWISS" instead of "T SWISS T"

I have also a 70s 1600 with pie pan dial and only 'SWISS' under the 6 marker. My luminous material does not glow anymore and has a patina color so does the lume on the hands.

Anyone know if this is common?

Thanks you!

Yes, a watch of that age show not glow anymore. The luminous often does have patina as well. Perfectly normal.

Yes of course this is understandable about the luminous material not glowing anymore but my questions was about the 'SWISS' only dial on a 70s 1600 Datejust when it is supposed to be 'T SWISS T'

I have a 1970 1600 w/ a T SWISS T dial. i believe yours is an earlier Datejust dial. it was my understanding that the T dials marked the beginning of tritium and that SWISS only dials were used up until sometime in the 1960s. im not an expert on these dials though. perhaps someone has more knowledge. here is my '70 1600.

Nice watch!

My YG 1803 has the hyphen but the WG one doesn't.

I've researched the reason ad nauseam but haven't come up with any conclusive evidence. As far as I know neither dial has been replaced.

It may just be one of those Rolex anomalies.

Hi, dial with hyphen were from early 60, Or late 50s. Perfectly alright if you are not too particular about a 72 case housing a 60s dial. You can get a 70s dial easily but why would you given the nice condition of this dial?

I asked a Rolex certified tech and he told me that back then when Rolex were less strict about parts, they could have used a dial from the late 60s in an early 70s watch so the watch could had came with this dial originally.
