I have both an Omega SMP 300M and a SubC Date. Although the SMP doesn't sit as high as the PO, it is still a 41mm size - but my Rolex looks a fair bit bigger, despite being a 40mm, due to the wide lugs and crown guards.
Take a look at one of the Rolex sport models ... You may be pleasantly surprised by how they look in terms of size. |

I really like the deployable half link on the newer Oyster bracelet. PCLs are a matter of personal taste.

I think I've come to the conclusion that I'll trade in for a Sub C or black GMT II. I just need to go the the AD and have a look. If anyone is interested in a trade please let me know.
One other thing, what is the second hand value of a sub c or GMT ? |

Just back from the AD to have a look at the GMT Master and they offered me £2k part exchange for a second hand Rolex GMT 2010 that had been serviced. The watch was up for £4750 and they wouldn't move at all.
2k for a 5.2k watch that isn't 6 months old yet is honestly astounding ! I will sell it privately because I'm set on owning the GMT master ! |

I would do some research and get current prices. I did a trade with an SMPc plus cash for an SM300 MCA. We were both pleased with the transaction. This type of transaction might be something to consider.

I tried on the Good Planet and the PO and both felt like bricks so I get what you're saying
Great looking watch but hard to live with long term |

I think there is a lightly used GMTIIc NR at Davidsw.com for $6250 or so. He's in the US so that may create hassles but it's a great price. Also consider the SeaDweller 4K, it sits taller than the Sub so it gives more heft than the Sub but it is still 40mm. You have to go ExplorerII or Deep Sea to get over 40mm in a Rolex sport watch. Finally I agree, sell your Omega (if you need to), don't trade it.

Don't do it, it's a great watch. Try a rubber strap it's a lot lighter with that on so may find it more comfortable.
I have the metal strap, rubber and a nato, nato was only about £12 from Amazon so that might be worth a try. |

You seem somewhat uncertain in what you want which is probably why you are looking to offload the Omega which presumably you really liked when you spent all that money 6 months ago. I think you just need to step back and take your time before buying again to avoid getting yourself in a similar situation.
Maybe you should just hang onto the Omega and start to build a collection, I personally think it's a great watch you have there and that having spent your hard earned money on it that you should enjoy it.

Just my 2 cents worth here: I had the 9300 in steel and after a week I had to get rid of it due mainly to the overwhelming weight of the watch.
I have a GMTiiC in my collection that I love but it's a totally different watch and feel (by the way very comfortable on the wrist). However, I was recently (4 weeks ago) offered a Liquid Metal 9300 on blue rubber at an unbelievable deal and bought the watch. Let me tell you, WOW - what a watch! I have a nice little collection of watches mainly Rolex but this Liquid Metal version, I just can't take it off. If you like the 9300 but the weight of the watch is the issue perhaps try the titanium version. It totally changed my impressions of the model. Good luck! Ryan |

Thank you for your advice, I think the reason I purchased the omega is because I tried it on at the AD and loved it there and then. I purchased it then too which meant I didn't think on it for long. It was an Impulse purchase who has we all know can be risky.
I might go and have another look at the BLNR before I make any crazy decisions. I agree it is a stunning watch to look at and I really like it but on the wrist it is heavy ! I've thought about the rubber strap but think it might be a little sweaty over time 😕 Cheers, |

Do not sell it until you try a leather or rubber strap buddy. It feels much better with one of them on.

I have a BLNR, never had a moment of remorse. every time i put it on, I feel good.
Also have a less expensive omega speedmaster racing. The 2 watches are completely different. the omega is nice, well built, and a great watch but the BLNR is more unique, more charismatic, more solid, and feels better on the wrist. Interestingly though, I was at Amelia concours last year, wearing my speedster, and some rich guy came up to look at my "daytona". from afar, this guy thought my watch was a white faced daytona and he was super excited, but blew me off when he found out it was an omega! You will never feel bad with a BLNR. |

I agree- the 2500 is pretty much perfect for an Omega tool/dive watch. I also agree the newer ceramic/ glass back models seem to cater to the collector crowd who want to watch the rotor whir around. It does not add to the value of the watch and creates another place for a leak to occur. Crown guards are there- the crown side of the case is wider and the guards are blended in rather than protruding from the case. The crown sits tall but contacts the case when screwed down. It's pretty well protected actually. |

To the OP:
It sounds like you've made up your mind. Going with what you don't want, the Omega that you have now, is going to suck. The only remedy is to do what you've already stated: Sell it privately and fund a new watch. You may also want to consider a trade on the forum. |

Great thread. I too have a PO 2500, aesthetically it's as nice as any dive watch out there. The dial, the numerals, bezel, the AR crystal. Yes, it's a tall watch and on a bracelet has some heft, but I like mine. I know it's a lot to spend money on a watch you're trying to unload, but a rubber strap may help with the weight. It gives it a more rugged look, less versatile, but could change your impression of a really nice piece.

OP. Impulse if fun. Consider a cost for a good time. But if the love is gone, move on.

I bought a POC 9300 when it came out. Wore it for 2 years. Very heavy and uncomfortable watch. Last year I bought a BLNR. Perfect watch for me. Hasn't come off my wrist in a year. The POC collects dust.

I tried the po's on at a boutique and liked the 42 way better due to the size and weight. I never sized the bracelet but the thought of no micro adjustments really turned me off. I come from breitlings and really wanted the rolex' to be a bit bigger. imo the 40's where a bit bigger than they are, especially the subc case. the deep sea has the same weight / size issues as the po. all of the "glidelock" bracelets are something i would never want to be without on any watch again. i love those. problem is like with you, trying them on does not always do them justice, sometimes you have to wear them sized for a bit. which is how i end up flipping a lot but also justify buying used instead so that flip is not so painful money wise. i also found a site online that let's you rent them for a week which is pretty good but that can cost as much as buying used and flipping.

Have you considered flipping it for the non-Chrono version of the PO?
You might even end up with some spare change. I LOVE OMEGA!!! But, I prefer the standard Seamasters without the subdials. If I wanted a Chronograph, I would definitely go for a Speedmaster Pro. |
