Switching Speedy Dials?

Does anyone know if a 1861 dial would fit/work with a 861 movement? Specifically, I'd like to put a panda dial in my speedy. I have a 1978 861 movement. I noticed that Ofrei is selling a panda dial (here: http://www.ofrei.com/page343.html) and states, "Used on Model number 3570.21.00 with case number 145.0022" Is this a feasible option?

Alternatively,

Would the Appollo 11 dial fit in the 861 and if so, does anyone know where I might be able to find one?

Thanks for the help.

A 1861 would fit on the 861 movement but the 861 movements came mostly with the T swiss made T writing until I believe 1997 where they commingled the 1861 with the tritium then at 1999 the new swiss made writing was implemented with the super luminova. You can do a dial swap no problem the only issue you would have would be a 321 dial since the legs on those dial are a little different

Quick question for you...what about the hands...the Speedy Pro has white hands...the panda dial is white with black subdials...will you be able to tell time with the watch with that much white on the dial?

When you do it, please post pictures as I would LOVE to do that with my own Speedy Pro.

Thanks, Tom

The panda dial / 35th apollo I believe came with silver hands. You can find the correct ones at Ofrei.

The mitsukoshi and apollo 11 35th speedmaster's have silver color hands for hour/minute and subdials.

Legibility is greatly compromised. The panda dial looks good though .

My thought is to have silver hour/min hands; black chrono and white subdial hands. Admittedly, this combo is not my idea. I saw some pics, on a different forum, of someone who did it to his Speedy and I must say that it looks more like the paul newman daytona (my all-time grail) than any Rolex - or any other watch for that matter. In fact, dare I say it, it may look better. I would post the link here, but I have a feeling posting links to other forums is a no-no on TRF. But when and if the project is complete, I will post pics

I had ABC Watchwerks do this mod to my Speedmaster a week ago and I'm very pleased with the results. The panda dial is stunning in person.

Panda dial with silver hour/min, black chrono seconds and white registers.

I don't find legibility to be an issue with the silver hands. I like the uniformity.

IMHO the panda is the best looking Speedy dial out there.

Get them while you can. I'm actually surprised Omega still sells them.

Rik did my swap and it looks great!

I had trouble seeing the silver hands on the white dial as well.

Omega makes a set of black hour/minute hands if you can find them at Otto Frei.
