Sizing a bracelet on GMT IIc

Hi all

Is there a guide on how to properly size the bracelet on a GMT II c?
And where should the clasp be sitting?

The easy link, adjustment hole, removing links etc, way too many variables

Note: I have tiny 6.25" wrists

Thanks!

After wearing my GMTIIC for just over a year, reading this got me thinking.

The AD adjusted the bracelet when I bought it and I never thought any more about it until today.

Quite often I have also felt that my watch was settling on my wrist more towards the 12 o'clock side and I kept having to pull it back towards 6 o'clock.

I have just taken a link out of the 6 o'clock side of the bracelet and added it to the 12 o'clock side. It seems to sit better immediately, but I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens.

How large to your wrist?

I actually have the same issue with all my watches. Perhaps the "put equal number of links to both sides of the clasp" rule is not the perfect configuration for all wrists?

On my GMT, not ceramic, I took one link out, so 7 on one side, and 5 on the other, the clasp sits right in the middle of my wrist.

My wrist is around 7 inches.

I now have 7 links on the 12 o'clock side and 4 on the 6 o'clock side and after wearing it like this all day I can say that it's the most comfortable I have felt it.

The case sits squarely on my wrist and doesn't drift towards the 12 side and the clasp is bang in the middle on the underside.

Can't say I was unhappy with the fit before, but my preference is definitely the way it is now.

I have a tiny wrist too about 6.5 and I have 4 links on the 6 oclock and 6 links on the 12 oclock side.

i too have this problem. i think all people have the same problem. i just dont know what the watches/ad dont adapt. they just keep it balanced to their own standard.

Where is your spring bar located in this set up ?
My wrist is between 6.5 and 7 inches and I have 4 links on 6 o'clock and 6 links on 12 o'clock, spring bar is in all out position. This feels a little too snug if there is even some warm temperature or activity. Easy-link on the other hand works fine since my wrist swells exactly 5mm in warm weather/activity. Adding a link to 12 side would make the bracelet too loose even when spring bar taken back all the way and easy link folded in, and no need to use easy-link extension at all... nobody's wrist swells 10 mm?

Perhaps I should consider 6 links on the 12 side in winter and 7 links in the summer ??

I can echo that, I have the same configuration. I also use the half link option unless it's really hot. Feels the right "fit" but the watch still occasionally leans to the outside of my wrist a bit...

My wrist is between 6 1/4 and 6 1/2. I have 4 links on the 6:00 side and 5 links on the 12:00 side. The spring bar is in the middle hole. This gives a perfect fit- watch and clasp resting in the middle of the wrist. When it gets hot though and my wrist swells, the easy link is a bit too big and the watch moves around on my wrist. Moving the spring bar to the last hole when my wrist swells is an option. But, moving it is a pain in the ----- as you have to get the spring bar tool in the small space behind the easy link. So, I leave the watch at the original (4 and 5) and hope for cool weather. If it gets really hot (103 today in NY) then I'll use the easy link.

This is still better than the Sub date where there are no options to take off links on the 6:00 side, (beside taking off a permanent link) so that the clasp is not centered.

It seems to be different for different people. I have 6 on the 12 o'clock side and 5 on the 6 o'clock. Clasp is second pin from the end. Feels comfortable and sits perfectly.

When my GMTII ceramic was brand new and unsized, it had 7 links on the 12 o'clock side and 5 on the 6 o'clock. I needed to take 2 links out to fit my wrist (which is small) so I took one out of each side. The clasp seems central. I don't know whether my AD would have done the same or would have taken both the links off the 12 o'clock side.

Trial & error is the ticket.

My DJ has 5 links at 6 o'clock and 8 at 12 o'clock. The extra link on the high side goes way inside the clasp, but this set-up puts the watch square on my wrist and the center hinge of the clasp hits the band just before the pivot point so it curves naturally around my wrist.

Took me at least 5 re-dos to get it just right, but now it fits purr-fectly!

Yes, I agree some trial and error is required. My watch seems OK but I am tempted to try another confirguration (or two...)
What stops me is that I don't wan't to risk scratches and one of the link screws is refusing to budge. I think it must be that gunk on the end of the thread that they use to stop the threads working loose. I might try a bit of gentle heat from a hairdryer.

I too have the same problem with my BLNR, having a wrist size of 7.1 inches. After changing to same configuration as yours, 7 links on the 12, and 4 on the 6. It sits nicely on the centre of my wrist. Bravo!
