Does the DSSD have a matte dial ?

I've read in several places that the DSSD has a matte dial. However, mine looks glossy for the most part. The new SDc4000 defiantly looks matte in most lighting conditions.

The DSSD dial should be the same as that on the SD4k. They may have changed the fonts here and there, but as far as I know the dial is considered satin.

It's technically more like what Rolex calls a satin finish but it is the modern version of a matte dial. It has zero gloss and you can really see it when the sun hits the dial head on. It's gorgeous and along with the dome crystal, one of my favorite characteristics.....but the D-Blue is just a notch higher for me.
The Exp ll, SD4k, rose gold YM, and the Deepsea all have the same matte dial.

You don't get the full effect in a photo but you can get a sense of the slight brownish hue the satin(matte) dial has, just like can be seen in the older Seadwellers, this is one of the areas you can see the lineage form the originals.

And did I mention it's my favourite Rolex from all that have come and gone, I sold the first in error and bought it again, will never leave my side again.

Wow, fantastic photos, and very good information !

Looks like it doesn't have the glossy dial after all !
