Wearing small...
I have been pouring through this Forum like a teenage boy looking at his first Playboy; and I keep seeing the same thread, "_____ wears small." I have a super tiny wrist, just under 5 but my pieces are all over the board. When I wear my Tank or Chopard I don't even feel them anymore, it doesn't mean I'm going to get rid of them (not yet at least).
I suppose it's all relative but my question to you, what size wears small for you given your wrist size, type of bracelet, case etc. When is small too small? ________________________________ My collection: SS Yachtmaster - midsize SS Datejust - midsize White Chanel J12 - 33 with diamonds Black Chanel J 12 - 38 with Arabic numbers Cartier Tank - midsize Chopard Happy Sport - large LE Concord La Scala Chrono with MOP face and diamond markers |

my wrist is 6.5 inches and personally would wear anything from 34mm to 44mm.. but i agree it has more to it than than the size of the piece vs. the wearer's wrist
on my wrist a dress watch over 39mm looks too large, but for a sport watch this would be on the smaller side of the acceptable size range just my opinion and based on my own wrist size

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules. There are many with larger wrists than mine that are comfortable wearing a 36mm watch. When I tried on the 36mm Datejust it felt and looked too small. I guess, if it bothers you and looks too small, then it is.
For me, with a 7 inch wrist, a watch that is 39-42mm is perfect. |

After lot of discussion and research i believe the new size norm for a woman's wrist is a 36mm watch. I wear a 36mm Day-date but thats my smallest watch and i like the classic look of it. But even at 36mm is considered small for a mens watch today. As a lot of the watch companies are sticking to the 40mm+ range.
By the way i have a pretty small wrist. I would try on one at the 36mm size and see if it grows on you.

I don't believe anything is TOO small but people often say it "wears small" to convey that contrary to the numbers it has a smaller look. This is often a result of case or lug design and color. For example a black daytona will wear slightly smaller than the white dial because of the tricks black plays.
For me, 38mm-42mm is where I like to play with my 7.5 wrist. My fiancé wears my old tag link which is 36mm and its too big on her imho. She insists its perfect so as you can see, it's all subjective. |

The Daytona will look great on you as will the Sub. I own both and have very small wrists.

6.5" wrists and I wear 34-40mm. This is a very personal choice. Two people with the same wrist size might prefer completely different size watch. Best to try on watches in a variety of sizes to see what you like.

Personally, I don't like the lugs to extend pass my wrist.
Lol, any watch made for ladies is too small. |

Depends on the watch. I feel ok wearing 47mm on one brand but not 44mm from another. Even within the same brand, a 41mm wears differently than a 40mm.

I think it depends on the watch design a good bit. A 39 mm watch with no bezel looks a lot larger on the wrist to me than the same 39 mm with a smaller face and surrounding bezel. Like just about anything else regarding watches/jewelry, it's a personal preference I suppose.

I have 8" wrists and have a WG Daytona and a Breitling Chronomat 41, both to me are great size wise. I did own a 47" Breitling which I carried off easily but I prefer 39mm to 41mm

I appreciate the feedback and comments. I agree that it's all relative and about comfort and fit.
My Datejust belonged to my husband for half a second and he passed it on to me as it was too small for him. I have been wearing my Daytona for a week and I quite love it. __________________________________________________ My collection: SS Daytona - white face SS Yachtmaster - midsize SS Datejust - midsize White Chanel J12 - 33 with diamonds Black Chanel J 12 - 38 with Arabic numbers Cartier Tank - midsize Chopard Happy Sport - large LE Concord La Scala Chrono with MOP face and diamond markers |

Not sure that there are any set rules regarding an appropriate watch size for someone. I think whether or not a watch is appropriately sized is a matter of subjective personal preference. It also depends on the watch itself. An Omega Speedmaster wears smaller than it's 42mm. Meanwhile, the IWC Portuguese Automatic seems to wear much larger than it's 43.3mm because it has no bezel.
Generally, I don't think the lugs should extend past the edge of the wrist, but my wife disagrees, especially for women. I honestly don't know when a small watch is too small. I think the 36mm DateJust looks fantastic even on bigger men like James Gandolfini. |

Knappo....just for you I will take pics and post. Let me figure out how to do this from my IPad. Yes, I am one of those girls who is technologically inept. I know that you're not insinuating that I don't own these pieces. LOL!

I used to like 43mm watches but my wrists are a little slimmer now and I prefer 40mm now.

I don't have rules, and I don't limit myself. I take everything into account: Take the Royal Oak, the Day-Date, and the Planet Ocean.
Each comes in a bunch of different sizes. Would I buy the 36mm RO? No. Would I buy the 36mm Day-Date? YES! It depends on what I like about each watch, compared to the other models available. |

This 1926 Hamilton doesn't get a lot of wear, but I do wear it and it is not too small, even though I'm a big man.
A former friend of mine called it a girls watch. I no longer regard him as an intelligent being. It's a beautiful piece from a bygone era and anyone who can't see that in my judgement lacks something between the ears.

My wife has a 22mm Omega. It looks tiny sitting in its' box, much less on her wrist.
