Advice needed

So I buy this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Submar...UAAOSwXshWrnSR

Arrived today. Watch is a 10/10. Actually fits (having never purchased a "new" Rolex I don't know if that means it has extra links or if that means I've been had buying used in the past and they removed links before selling it)

There is one issue, the back of the watch is engraved. It says, "Faith Family & Fastball We Love You Mom & Dad 5-9-07"

I purchased the watch to wear. Its otherwise great. That said, I feel like the seller should compensate me for it not being 100% right. New is new, right? Is 2007 new? Is an engraved back new? Am I being unreasonable?

That is 100% bs in my opinion. Engraving the watch really devalues it, they definitely should have made that clear in the ad. Definitely not new either, in good shape but not new. Did they even include the booklets and cleaning cloth? I'd tell them you need a refund asap or open a case with eBay/PayPal.

When you get your money back I'd recommend going to sohail, a seller here on trf, he will sort you out.

3 feedback? Ballsy move to buy a high ticket item from a seller with such a low feedback rating. Definitely not new. Ebay will most likely side with you.

Depends how much you paid? Buffing out the engraving isn't hard at all and on a SS back is no issue.

He agreed to a partial refund of $600 which I'm happy with. Is buffing out the engraving a job for my normal Rolex guy? Figured that may be outside the scope of what he normally does. I figured a used back can be had for $500 and $100 to install/seal it.

This model was discontinued, so how could it be newer than 2010 ? If you thought it was the latest model you did not do you research and that falls on you IMHO Or do you mean it's not new old stock ?, are you saying it's been worn ? As for the engraving on the back that's not acceptable to leave undisclosed when selling. I would ask for money back for a new caseback or return it.

Buying a Rolex from a guy with 3 feedbacks? Seriously?

Great result. Do a search, you could remove the engraving yourself easily, it's really not a biggie. I think someone actually posted a tutorial on here a while ago. If not then any watchsmith can do it.

Edit, found it for you - Try this - http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=171274

Removing the engraving takes nothing more than a sheet of sandpaper and ten minutes of your time.
