SD4 Cyclops

Out of interest, anyone stick a cyclops on a SD4, any pics?

Just curious as some have discounted the watch for lack of cyclops

I think one of the best features of this watch is the lack of cyclops. There was a thread today asking about adding one, but it will look just like a sub date

If you can't read the date get a sub. I did (and flipped the SDc)

Hadn't thought of that. The SDc crystal is 50% thicker than the Sub.

Well, maybe, but not many. Lack of a cyclops is one of the reasons a lot of us prefer it to the Sub date.

The date displays on the SD and DSSD are a bit small

You should make sure you're OK with it before buying

Lame that Rolex didn't make a larger calendar wheel with larger numerals, and more properly placed the date window on the SD and DSSD

Definitely much easier to read the date with a cyclops, as that date wheel was intended to be viewed with

Very little reason to do this, buy the sub and not mess with watch.

Hmmm...I must admit I have thought about this once or twice. Not sure if / or when I would do it, but I saw another thread on this and can't see the harm.

My understanding due to a previous posting is that the crystal is in fact the same exact part number as for the 114060 and that it doesn't truly set any higher from the dial either...so no abnormal distortion. Apparently it's just the gasket and bezel configuration that causes the crystal to be raised in homage to past iterations.

That said, I own both an SubC and SD4K and much prefer the case design and Matte Black (Ok...Satin if you go by Rolex description) Dial to the SubC. I could easily see doing this, as it would be such an easy MOD to reverse if you ever wanted to flip the watch or needed it to be serviced at a RSC!
