Decision Time

Well, taxes were just filed. Waiting in an OT check, and things are all squared away.

So basically it's decision time.

ABCwatchwerks has made my explorer ii the BLNR Jr. As many know:

So I've always wanted the BLNR, but I think that aspect is covered with my custom explorer black face.

So do I get the Platinum YM? Very elegant and I think more "dressy" with an absolute Rolex look.

Do I get the Explorer ii polar (less expensive)
Or do I just save a little longer and get the BLNR. My fear is with the BLNR, I won't wear the custom explorer I had made up.

Opinions?

If you wear your Explorer 24/7, get the BLNR as a special occasion watch since it has PCLs.

I say wait. You are too indecisive at the moment to make a decision that will result in enduring satisfaction. Bank the funds and explore all your options. The answer will emerge in time.

My fear is with the BLNR, I won't wear the custom explorer I had made up.

I read your other thread a couple of weeks ago and I remember you were concerned about the value of your custom Exp II. If you're willing to take a hit on your Exp, I would sell it and get the BLNR. From this and your previous posts it's obvious you really want a BLNR and likely won't be happy until you have one.
The Yachtmaster is a great watch, I have one and love it but, you're going to buy the YM for more money, then get a BLNR anyway. The loss on the YM when decide you want to sell it will be greater than the loss on the Exp II. Your least expensive way to solve your problem is to sell your Exp II and buy the watch you really want, the BLNR. If you're like me, you'll end up wearing the BLNR all the time anyway. I can hardly make myself take it off. If I sold everything else I think I'd be fine.....
Good luck with your decision.

You've always wanted the BLNR. That's the one to get.
If you end up not wearing your ExpII you'll take a hit on it but still be able to re-coupe some of your funds.

Tye, my vote goes to the YM. Like you said, you already have the BLNR JR. (Which by the way is stunning)

Go with the platinum dial since you already have a dark dial. I say that since you mentioned the polar.

These are tough decisions. Good luck.

I hate you Rolex forum. Jk ha ha ha.

The thing about the Exp ii is it has meaning to me. I did it for a reason (the customizations) and just can't see myself, even with the BLNR getting rid of it regardless.

The BLNR is stunning and maybe I will add it to the collection, but obviously I can't make my mind up between that and the YM.

YOU ALL HAVE GREAT Advice. Maybe I need to go try them both on and see which one SINGS. Who knows, I may come home with something completely different.......

Orrrrr maybe I can convince my wife to let me trade in my car for the newer faster one lol.

09 WRX for a 2016 STi. Ohhhhh first world problems. Ha ha ha.

Definitely strap things on before you decide Tye.

My wife was enamored with the Platinum 35mm YM with Platinum dial until she saw it in person. She thought it looked flat (lacking 3D depth). But the same AD visit found her loving a 178241, which couldn't be more different.

Spend some quality time at the AD a few times before you decide what the next goal is. AND - Never flip your EXPII - that thing is better than Platinum from where I sit

The so-called BLNR Jr. does not have a bi-color ceramic insert on the rotating bezel and thus looks much different from the BLNR. So you can pull the trigger to get a real BLNR with no brainer.

Oh I know it's nothingness like the BLNR, it's just the running joke since I had it customized.

I can tell you for 100% though, I will not flip, or get rid of the Expii. The only reason I thought polar also for a minute is i could see sending it off and having some fun customizations done to it too.

I like stuff that's unique and "one of a kind" even if other people have the. "Original."

Great advise and mine as well. When the time is right, the BNLR will be my choice for you.

Decision Time

Or I could do this:

With everything going on in life right now I think I'm just going to take my time and if it comes along it comes along.

With the loss of a close friend to suicide (he's a cop also) just 3 weeks ago, I realize I need to appreciate the things I have at the moment.

Back when I was involved in a horrible on the job situation, I found myself trying to buy happiness. I think I was doing just this with the BLNR/ YM debate. These past few weeks.

So for now I am going to take it day at a time, to to enjoy life, keep my head down, and try not to get shot. (Sorry cop humor).

Yea, we deal with horrible situations in awkward ways.

But with that said. Time to stay grounded and focus on the important things in life, not my "Grail" watch. If t falls in my lap, sure, but I'm don't need to put the time and energy into it

Excellent strategy Tye. Keep everything in perspective and enjoy what you have around you.
