This is my theory of what will happen next year and in 2010:

The GMT IIc in YG ("Anniversary", Green dial) was introduced in 2005.

The TT GMT IIc came a year later, in 2006.

The SS version came in 2007, and the old GMT was discontinued.

Now we got an updated Sub Date in YG and WG this year, in 2008.

So my theory is that we will see at TT version in 2009.

And an updated SS Sub Date in 2010.

Rolex, if you are listening; and if you even care. A "Datetona" or Chronojust would be ideal.

We have the Milgauss that can take magnetics. How about make the Newton to handle forces. I bet Terry would like that!

Is that a trend, or did they just do that for the GMT?

I think it's ridiculous to bring out tool watches in precious metals before SS.

Your prediction seems fairly accurate to me. A shame the SS Sub Date is taking for ever to get the update but just gives me more time to get both that and the GMT Master IIc

Rolex should keep the "classic" line. With all the homage watches out there and the classics being re-introduced, Rolex should do themselves a favor and retain the current flavors.

Wishful thinking, I know.

Well over their history as a company they have kept the main things the same. They are timeless watches. The main changes were upgrades in a sense and after a while it does grow on you.

Come on people. Wheres you imagination gone.

Personally i would like Rolex to remove all the hideous leopard, diamond and zebra watches in the range and perhaps release a tourbillion. That would wonder the watch world.

I would like to see
1) a stainless steel YM-II, brushed bracelet, without the name emblazoned on the bezel;
2) a Submariner in a YM-II case, using the original font for the bezel;
3) a GMTIIC with a red 24 hour hand, Pepsi bezel and NO GREEN!

Looks like 2010 could be the big one. That makes such great sense. Judging by the sales of the aniversary sub this yr, a 10yr waiting list for a daytona could be a underestimate.

I suspect 2009 will be the year of supercased ceramic TT sub and the pepsi/coke ceramic GMT II. Then 2010 new SS sub and anniversary supercased daytona (in solid gold first).

I also think that in 2010 all classic subs will be discontinued including the LV. I also think the same for the air king, date, explorer 1 and 36mm presidents.

IMHO the future line of rolex after 5 years will be:
ceramic supercased subs
ceramic supercased gmts
new supercased daytonas
SDDS
YM (maybe supercased in the future)
YM II
supercased DDs
DJs (mostly for ladies and gays )

My prediction for 2009:

I agree TT Cermanic Sub
41mm TT DJ will be announced
1460M will be disconntinued
Explorer I will be discontinued
(No more Green on GMTs - They will all go back to Red)

Now in 2010(A year of the big watches):

A 44mm Daytona will be announced
A 44 mm and the 40mm Sub with Cermanic will surface.
A 44mm GMT will be announced with Ceramic
SS DJ will get 41mm
