My first Rolex showed up today, a 1987-88 16700. R prefix serial number. First year of production for this model, and it retains it's original tritium dial and matching hands. The watch came with a Certificate of Originality from James Dowling dated September 2005, and a Rolex UK Service Guarantee dated Feb 2006.

Overall I am very happy with the condition of it, gauging from the pictures on the advert.

It has the correct and desirable open 6 and open 9 date wheel, which was phased out in the early 1990's I believe. It is fitted with a 93150 bracelet, which I have to say I am a fan.

I have a note the the clasp and end pieces were replaced at the service in 2006. It remains in great condition and is running well. Seller told me it is running a touch fast +8 seconds a day.

First port of call will be a service.

I've been an admirer of the Pepsi for some time, and did I a little bit of research as to what to aim for and one popped up unexpectedly.

I was due to buy a 11610LN submariner, but something didn't feel quite right about buying something brand new out of the showroom. I wanted something with a bit of history, and something which is less likely to be seen.

I'll post some wrist shots up at a later date :)
