Love Hate Issues With Rolex

I have this love hate issue with Rolex, I have noticed that many of you on this great forum have love hate issues with Rolex as well. I thought it would be fun to read about your opinions with your love hate issues with Rolex. So if you don’t mind please share some.

I figure I would share my big three issues as well. I hate the stem on Rolex watches. I know this sounds small but I don’t like the fact I own several Rolex watches and the crown on the stem on all of them is on a different positions????? You would think at $6,000 a pop Rolex could make the crowns upright. I have been told many reasons as to why the crowns are in a million different positions.

I hate the endless price increases in the long run Rolex will hurt themselves buy their greed.

I hate the fact I can’t enjoy any other watch but Rolex. My Breitlings get very little wrist time but the B on the stem on my Breitlings are all upright. If Breitling can do it I think Rolex could to if they really wanted to.

haha- my milgauss is actually bang on but yesterday i tried the gmt II and it was always upside down!!! it annoyed me too- but i was thinking surely if you start the crown in a different position then you will eventually get it upright- well i could not

Well, the crown on my Breitling only has lines on it , so its always aligned.
What do I hate about Rolex?
Only the availabilty of new models .

I hate the fact that i can only wear one at a time!!
As for the crown, my Date is spot on upright but the Exp.II is at 3 o/clock.

The crown alignment I agree. Not able to get my head around that one at all.

Tolerance levels, I know Rolex at -2 to + 5 secs a days are up their with the very best Crono's, but surely they can get it tighter than that. It is the first thing you notice when you buy a Rolex.

The bling bling image Rolex has developed. Some guy at Glastonbury yesterday even had 30,000 revellers singing "Me and My Rolex" all waving their wrists in the air. The saddest part of it was he was not wearing one, nor most of them.

Agreed - that's what put me off buying the Sub TT, SS and LV. The GMT IIc, on the other hand, has a lovely solid bracelet and that's the one I went for.

Maybe the sports models will have solid links soon.

I don't like the poor quality of Rolex lume. Omega and Seiko do much better.

I don't care much for the increasingly blingy Rolex models.

I find Rolex following the trend "big is better" dubious.

I never liked the Rolex models where you can see the pins coming through on each side of the clasp. Made it look like any ordinary watch, ie, citizen, seiko.

With the advent of the new models, the pins dont show anymore,., 1000% improvement in my opinion.

That one feature made me fall for the new GMT ll c

I am sure every model will eventually have that finished look and more will pique my interest.

I'm 3 for 3 with my crowns lining up correctly.

I love the new bracelet. I hate the center links.

I think they did a better job with the ceramic sub/dssd bezels than with the GMT.

I think Breitling is really scaring them. Maybe the competition will be good.

Wow, lets face it, when Rolex issued watchs such as the Sub etc, they were amongst market firsts in so many areas. The bracelets stood the test of time and in many hostile environments. One of the reasons I believe Rolex are so successful is that they have not endlessly followed Market trends up until now (and even then it's quite subtle) The designs span over 5 decades, however the price for basically the same watch from the 50's 60's today has risen immensly, but then hasent everything.

My 14060M has some subtle improvements, but Its very similar to a Sub of yesteryear, and I like that. Hate, the only thing I dislike about Rolex, price increases and some of the changes, my pet one is foregoing the Classic GMT Master for the new GMT beast.

I would add: With regard to a beautiful watch like the GMTc: At least put a bracelet on it that matches those big lugs and cases. As it is, the bracelet seems disproportionately small. [This is not really a "hate," I guess. Just an observation.]

The only thing I'm agonizing about right now is RSC B.H. I've said bad things about them before, and I have "sworn off" going there any more, but I'd really like to have my 14060m regulated (at an RSC). Must I send my watch from L.A. to N.Y, just to be satisfied about getting a job done properly? I guess I'm in the OCD Club.

Well, call me superstitious or just cautious, but if mine needs any regulation or service any time soon, I would send it to NY or Dallas, just based on horror stories I've read on Rolex forums.

BTW, guess you could sign me up for the OCD club, too. Just see my jumping hands while hacking posts. Scratches and scuffs don't bother me a bit, but those little hands lining up? Drives me bonkers. I am trying to become less OC, and thanks to my wife and a loving support group of friends and family I am getting better. Honest.
