You're from NJ like me. If someone walked up behind you in this state and grabbed your wrist, I bet you'd go into a defensive mode. I get weirded out when strangers say "hi" to me in bars or on the street let alone touch me without permission.

Many people from many walks of life lurk here. I am willing to bet that many of the members are former or current Military or LE. It is those demographics that would be more inclined to react in a physical manner. I am quite sure, there are many capable individuals here in TRF...they just have great taste!

I've been in more fights than I care to remember. A few of them I don't remember.

And I have never ever thrown a first punch. Even when the fights were in a ring.

There is not enough information provided to really conclude the best course of action. But for certain throwing a punch is not the right way to go.

And the facts are that very few computer tough guys would respond to this with physical violence. And if they did, likely they'd end up in a holding cell while planning to sell their Rolex in order to pay for the upcoming legal fees and court settlement.

Hope all you tough guys realize if someone just touches you, and you in turn break his jaw, curb stomp him, or whatever...you will likely be paying through the nose when you get sued (and rightfully so). Hope you're all just "internet tough guys", and wouldn't actually overreact like that in public. It's pretty evident the guy probably had a few too many, and didn't need his jaw broken. SMH...

I don't think my first reaction would be to punch, if he was just excited or drunk I'd just pull my wrist away, but if I sensed danger or a set up then I'd have my right hand ready, I only jab with my left so the Rolex can stay on.

I would not punched the guy, but would have broken his grip on my wrist. If he tried to hold my arm, escalation is needed and it becomes self defense.

Me--former military, competed in boxing and kick boxing for over a decade.
Was a bouncer in the SF Sunset district for a couple of years while in college, still work out 4-5 times a week. Oh, and I am a genuinely nice guy that has never started a fight, I have finished some, but I hate starting them.

I tend to overreact because I'm paranoid. But anyone who knows about having to fight, de-escalating the situation is the best action. I hate fighting, but had to a time or two.

As for the watch, I'd be glad if my watch was mistaken for a MK. I enjoy conversations with fellow watch people, but conversations with most others gets awkward since people instantly talk about price.

I do think there are a lot of Internet tough guys out there. But as stated there are lots of LEO, military and all around badasses on this "geeky watch forum". I was an amateur boxer all thru HS and college, a bouncer and did a fair amount of close quarter self defense training. But my guess is some drunk dude in a bar wouldn't take much to subdue. Which would be good because I am old and a little rusty.

My mom always said never start s fight but always finish it. Needless to say she was never happy about the boxing and hated the bouncing.

While some may over-react, the vast majority of people here who have received training in defensive tactics will not immediately go to blows. There are many moves that can be made that will encourage the grabber to back up, and that may be all that is necessary. Of course, if he is plastered, he still might not get it. A trained and aware individual is much different than an "internet tough guy."

An Internet tough guy is one picking fights behind a keyboard, knowing won't face person he is antagonizing. Very different to this OP scenario.

It happen to me as well when I was wearing my DD2 everose. A young lady said to me "HEY your watch is just like mine." It's a Micheal Kors. I just said WOW your right as she put her watch next to mine. She was in her twenties. Not many people understand the value of time, that's why I keep it with a nice watch.
