Downsizing

I've always dug the classic DJs, but had always thought they had too formal of an appearance for me to be able to pull off with my (mostly) informal wardrobe.

The other day I stopped into my AD and tried on a few models. I normally skip over their smaller models / DJ section, but this time I was feeling adventurous and tried some on. I had found one particular configuration that was classy, yet not terribly overstated. A few minutes later they were swiping the warranty card!

The 36MM size takes some getting used to, but it's definitely growing on me..

It looks great on you Rory. I used to own a bunch of 40+ size watches before and when I first got my hands on a 36mm Explorer I was shocked at the size but after a week of wearing it, now I can't imagine going back to those bigger ones.

Congratulations!

Coincidentally I tried on a similar 36 DJ last week at the AD and love the classic look.

Beautiful piece, the Datejust 36mm is the classic Rolex!!!!! There are so many different varieties, yet they are all easily distinguishable as a Datejust. dj.jpg

Totally with you there Ed! The two pieces that I own that are over 40mm will be gone soon - 40mm is the maximum size that feels right on my ~7.25-7.5" wrist.

The larger pieces definitely corrupted my perception of "too small" there for a while though.
