Problem with a Grail piece!
I have not taken off my 18078 since I received the bracelet from being reworked. And I was just setting here a few moments ago thinking about my collection. And a realization hit me. You just picked up a Grail piece where does one go from there? I mean there are watches I would like to own and add to the collection but will they have the same pop? I just don't know I almost feal as if my next purchase has to be better than the last. And since this was the #2 on my watch radar for many years I guess just #1 the Patek 5036-J has to be the next and end to the collection. Yeah right like that will ever happen. I will attach a pic of my collection and let me know what you guys and gals think. And if you guys have any ideas as the next piece could be.

I don't think the next one has to be nicer (more expensive) than the last, it just has to sing to you. Take your time and look at other brands, your horological journey doesn't have to mean that the watches continuously get more expensive as long as they interest you.

I think most here would agree that the "grail" is a shifting goal. At least for me, it changes throughout the years. Maybe that's why I can never attain it!

The good thing about collecting is you can always modify, change or acquire different watches as you move forward. As a collector I remember thinking if I could ever acquire a PM Rolex I would be through. That is not the case and 10 PM flips or more I have settled into the thought that my collection is not a destination but a journey that I enjoy and will continue. The next watch will present it's self and you will know.

For me the problem with a grail is, lets take the "Platoona" for instance, you lust after it for years but when you finally get it..you start to think.."this looks just like a SS Daytona and I spent how much on this????"
Grails always disappoint in the end. |

Collection parameters change. Basically, it is the collector who dictates such parameters. Good luck!
