Just curious, I'm sure some of you here have gone through this, but I'm wondering how prevalent it is and how long it took to finally "settle" on one size of watch (if ever), regardless of brand. For example, purchasing the DSSD, flipping for the SubC, and then returning to the DSSD or its equivalent in another brand or so. I'm coming at it from a personal perspective as I seem to keep gravitating back toward larger sized watches, the Omega PO being the latest. When I then place my Pepsi on my wrist, it simply seems so much less substantial. Wondering reasonably if my tastes will ever level out...What say you all?

It's not a bad thing to have multiple options in a collection. It all depends on the watch.

I'll seem to go the other way. Stop wearing or selling the bigger watches and return to 40mm , the Pepsi being my latest...😄

My collection is gradually gravitating toward the smaller, older references since they fit better on my 6.25" wrist.

If you're interested in larger watches, there are plenty of options out there, that's for sure. Did you buy a Planet Ocean, or are you just thinking about one?

I've gone the other way as well. After years of wearing 44's, I'm back to a sub. The first couple of days, it felt/looked a little off to me, but now I'm really enjoying it. Just now, I put a 44 back on and it was the same reaction...weird

I go the other way. Every time I put on my 40mm GMT it feels a bit weird. I adjust, but I think I actually prefer the fit of my 36 DJ

Used to have several Panerai's. Sold them all for Rolex and never looked back.

I'm definitely getting to appreciate smaller watches. I started as a Breitling fan and have gradually progressed onto Rolex and others.

Had a couple of 36mms and 42mm is largest I owned briefly, now settled into 39 & 40 for everything. Would consider a 38mm on the low end but nothing bigger than 40 on the larger sizes....for now.

For me 40mm is the sweet spot regarding proportions on a sports watch.

I can pull off bigger depending on the watch, but not really needed.

My taste has expanded. I started at 36mm and now have 36mm through 44mm. I enjoy them all.

40mm is my sweet spot for the office. I will however go larger in casual settings.

I found myself going through a similar experience, however, a variety of sizes in a collection helps. Although, as Muzz said, that 40mm just seems to be a great sweet spot that I always end up going back too.

I have watches from 36-42mm. The 42mm is a Speedy Pro. Used to own a PAM372 but decided that 47mm was just excessive - despite loving the dial, hands, and plexi on that reference.

In the range 36-42mm, I feel that the watches I own mostly feel 'just right' for what they are. The only watch I'm slightly ambivalent about is my 39mm Explorer. I'm half seriously considering trading 'down' to the previous 36mm model. Not so much because of the short minute hand but because the dial almost looks too big! Weird, I know. Still making up my mind on this one.

But a year ago, I would have completely discounted the idea that I'd own any watch smaller than 40mm. Tastes change.

Would I ever buy a 34mm (or smaller) vintage dress watch? Not sure yet.

But I've learned never to say never!

40mm seems about the sweet spot for me too. But if a slightly larger watch wears 'smaller' I'd consider it.

Panerai is a problem for me. They made a few 40mm watches but they are poor sellers in the after market. Now they don't even make the 40mm anymore (or won't soon), 42mm is their new smaller size. But even that is not the favored size. I like the style, but it seems this watch is all about the size and they are too big for me. Oh well.

Still hoping for the 40mm DJ and Basel.

I've been through a few size changes through the years and decided that 40mm is the sweet spot as well. I have a 6.5", flat wrist.

Tag F1 38mm >> B&R BR03-92 42mm >> PAM 111 44mm >> Speedy Pro 42mm >> GMTiic 40mm >> SD4K 40mm >> GMTii 16710 Pepsi 40mm

Cannot wear the PAM anymore and the Speedy is a bit large to me now.

I moved from a much larger watch and when I first put on a 36mm DateJust, I did feel that it was just too small.

After a very short period of adjustment, I realised that the small size meant I didn't want to get it off my wrist as soon as I got home. It's there but hardly noticeable and is very easy to wear.

It's also a two toned model, champagne dial with diamond markers so it's got more than enough wrist presence.

My only dilemma now is when not to wear it.
