For those of you who have dove the San Francisco Maru, was there a layer of jellyfish hanging over the ship? We had to pass through a thick 50 foot layer of jellyfish to get to the deck. And because I was narced, I didn't feel the sting on my chin until I was hanging below the dive boat on the deco stops.

We had to breath from spare tanks hanging from the boat for almost an hour, and it felt like a hot curling iron on my chin. Very uncomfortable.

I was fortunate in that I went during the off jelly season. I stayed on The Odyssey and the crew mentioned that it gets really bad with lots of ouchies particularly during night dives. The few I saw on the other deeper wrecks were easily avoided

I wish I had gotten to dive more - it's the closest thing to flying free as a bird like superman (in slow motion). My last trip only 20 feet down with an old Submariner in Hawaii in 2008 - my last time due to my lung disease that made me retire the year before. I just couldn't handle it anymore with only one working lung.

Prior to that in Texas in the 1980's I never went past 40-50 feet, and didn't ever pay attention what watch I had on, but I never dove with my Rolex Oyster 1500 back then.

Had planned to dive in the Bahama's in 1993 wearing my TAG but they had a hurricane-like tropical storm in March and the dive was canceled (boats pushed up on the beach, buildings destroyed, water too cloudy). We had to swim with the dolphins instead.

In 2011 when we went to Cozumel I almost lied about my health to go diving again with my wife and son, but my daughters talked me into snorkeling with them instead, to only 6-7 feet down. Sigh... Getting sick and/or old sucks.
