WG Daytona vs PP 5167A

I know, two different watches completelly.

But I love both, have been hot on 5167 aquanaut fir a while until someone mentioned its a "poor man's patek". Still love it of course.

100% solid WG daytona PM racing dial. Stunning.
Same price preowned

What do you think?

Need to wait a few weeks, if they throw a ceramic bezel on the daytona, it could be a game changer.
For right now though I'd take the patek

definitely not a poor man's patek, I do not care what others think, I just buy what I like. I would like to know the person who said that, has he or she ever owned a Patek? In this case I vote for the Aquanaut

6167 = Smart choice

The 5167 is the smart person's choice. You get a great movement, a watch that can be worn with jeans or a suit (even the owner does that), and it flies well under the ostentatious radar. You could pay more for pm, but you wouldn't be getting a better watch.

WG Daytona, no doubt. I never understood the allure of a $20k watch with a rubber strap that looks like a tire tread.

Whoever said that has no business wearing Patek.

Both are great watches and I've had both....flipped the WG as I was just conscious of getting scratches and couldn't enjoy wearing it. As for the 5167, I felt it was too light and realized I prefer bracelets - not a poor mans Patek either, the same 324 SC movement is shared with the 5711!

Both are great choices, I would prefer a YG daytona or Platona over WG, so my vote would be with the 5167

Who actually invented the two terms "poor man´s Patek" and "entry level Patek"?

The club of Aquanaut haters on here seems to be very active these days.

The 5167 is an awesome watch and so extremely versatile. I´d have it over a WG Daytona anytime.

For the money Patek is asking for the Aquanaut, I would be asking for a hacking movement.

Buying the cheapest house in the most expensive street always beats buying the most expensive house in a cheaper street. I would take the 5167 any day!!

I'd go Patek and there's nothing entry or cheap about the 5167a.

Exactly.....and much better than Lange as well...I mean for that amount of money you would think the least Patek and ALS would at least provide a full PM cover for their movements!!! Leaving it see through is just cutting corners!! I mean who wouldn't want a Daytona if you had a choice that included the datograph and the 5170 / 5070 / 5270 to name a few!!!

Nothing poor about a 20 K watch. Probably said by someone that can't afford it.

Though choice, you can't go wrong with either of them.
It's a personal choice but I would go for the Daytona

Both have their appeal. To me they are miles apart in function, but I love the Daytona as part of a collection and I rely on other pieces when I need different functions. The Patek could be a stand alone piece for me however.

5164 would be my first choice, then WG Dayt then 5167, but a ceramic WG might challenge that.
