2004 Rolex Releases?
Howdy,
Did Rolex come out with any new models or redesigns for existing models at Basel in 2004? Its my daughter's birth year and I would like to see if there is any watch that shares that special time (no pun intended). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Take care, Ruddiger |

Hi,
Now then, that's a while ago. Luckily (well, luckily if I'm remembering right), I do seem to recall some things from then, since that was the first year I actually started paying attention to Rolex. I'm pretty sure that was the year the Turn-O-Graph made a comeback with the new case, bracelet and bezel design. Other than that, nothing major springs to mind...no doubt there were new dial or metal combinations introduced for various things, but in terms of an outright new big headline release, I think the re-launch of the Turn-O-Graph was about it. |

2004 Rolex Releases?
I believe that the 16610LV 50th anniversary Sub was released in 2004. That was a big deal at the time and is a fairly "collectible" piece for a modernish Sub. Great watch!

Ah, could be, could be...I had a feeling it was already around in 2004 though (well, on paper anyway - getting hold of one at an AD was another matter entirely). My memory of it is admittedly very fuzzy though, I was always more of a fan of the Datejust, Day-Date and Cellini more than anything else, so I wouldn't have paid much attention to the LV at the time. |

Based on what I remember and have read they made a prototype in 2003 with lug holes but did not release it until 2004 and without lug holes. Not sure when they revealed it at Basel. Be a great watch for collecting purpose long term IMHO. Also I have seen women wear them in the wild. The green insert and maxi dial are a great combo.

I saw that as well but it seems like most publications I saw (and a book I own) consider 2003 to be the year for that model so I was confused by conflicting information. Take care, Ruddiger |

Recently I purchased an Explorer, I wanted this watch to commemorate the birth of my little one with the view to passing it down in the future. Unfortunately my financial situation at the time didn't allow me to purchase in 2010, I had to wait until 2015 but thanks to this link I've just found out the new Explorer was introduced in 2010, making in my eyes a special purchase even more special to me and hopefully my little lad when he is older. Anyway, goodluck Ruddiger in your search |

Howdy,
Thanks for noticing! Definitely a diehard as hard as that is lately. Brian was a childhood hero and the first Browns player I fell in love with growing up watching the Kardiac Kids. I met him this summer with my daughter and he was fantastic, very gracious and engaging, a real pleasure. Interestingly, there were thirteen other members of the Kardiac Kids there and three of them had on Rolex watches. Take care, Ruddiger |
