Not a bad deal if you already have the proper dial/hands/insert from that era... Otherwise, it will cost you a fortune to acquire the above parts.

Looks legit. Case is over-polished but decent. Finding a dial and hands will be challenging.

I was going to take a crack but passed because of the dial and the 4' lug

IN a nutshell, the dial is really hard to find. I would not be surprised if that one gave up the dial and hands to save a better case.

Since its marked "sold" I'm guessing the original buyer backed out. Since you got the "2nd Chance" you might've been the next lower bidder.

I'd definitely pass on the strength of the comments already - I fully agree it's a project that could last year's searching for a dial that would continue to rise in price while you sought it.

Also, just as an aside, I usually don't buy from sellers who don't know White Gold from SS.
