Which return option from Michael Young from HK to UK?

Hi,

I lurk more than I post on here!

I've just had the good news that my wife's strap is fixed and ready to be sent back. I was wondering what postage option would be best.

He's offered EMS or FedEx. FedEx has no insurance. EMS he can insure.

I don't know why he can't do FedEx insurance as then the return postage would be the same as the outward so would be easier to track for customs.

Has anyone in the UK done EMS? My concern is what is the value of EMS insurance? Will they actually pay out if it gets lost or will I be fighting from abroad through Michael Young and never get a proper response?

I am aware that the value of these bands is now around £1.5k so I think it's well worth insuring.

Be grateful for your thoughts and recommendations.

Thanks

I sent mine with FedEx. If I send insured will pay 21% VAT of the insured value. So: 420$ to MY + 21% of 1500$ + insurance… toooooo much!!!
Good luck!

why did you have to pay VAT? you didn't buy anything
do you mean tax was paid on the insurance premium?

I just got one back from him in the US, used EMS with insurance. The issue is Fed Ex Envelopes. FedEx will not insure envelopes for more than $100. I went round and round with them when I was shipping mine and the only way to get insurance is in a box and the price doubles for shipping in a box. Michael uses envelopes.
For the record, I rolled the dice and shipped mine to him in a FedEx envelope with $100 insurance. It had the best tracking.
