Luxury Watch Rental? (Eleven James)

Has anyone checked this site out? It's quite a cool idea. Especially for folks like me who will likely never own a Patek/A. Lange. Price varies by "collection" up to $1100/month. I'm likely not going to rent anything, but I'm curious if you all think there's a market for this, or if you will be/are a customer.

I think it's a great option if you're on the fence about actually owning a particular model. Saves having to flip if it wasn't meant to be.

I rented a tux in high school.

I rent cars when traveling.

I won't rent a watch.

I know, man. I saw the Eleven James site, got so excited and had to share. I shortly after realized this had been discussed. Sorry, fellas.

To me it would be like renting a tooth brush or comb. I'm not really in to shared or rented items.

Beware of Eleven James

I would avoid at all costs! The concept of Eleven James is cool, however they now are pushing direct sales of watches as a means to produce revenue. The problem however, half the watches in the collection are "47th street specials" or purchased directly from Jomashop. Only some are purchased via authorized dealers.

The people in charge of sourcing watches have 0 idea what they are doing. No one really knows anything about watches in the whole company. They will end up charging you a crazy price for a watch that has been polished to death, not able to distinguish or comprehend what makes a watch keep its value. You will not know until you actually purchase the watch because the picture they show you isn't the actual watch you get. If they have 15 GMT Batman's in the collection, they assume all are the same in value, not distinguishing by individual watch, and will sell you the one with the highest profit margin. Also, when it comes to servicing a watch, they will send it to someone on 47th street who will turn it around in a day and claim a full service. Once again, not understanding the "shadiness" involved and the likelihood the parts now in the watch are not all original. Look out for refinished dials as well.
