Factory "Swirlies" on my Rolex Sapphire Crystal

My 2012 YM Blue has swirlies on the finish of the crystal caused by the polishing process in the Rolex factory. The marks only appear in the sunlight if I hold the crystal at just the right angle. You can see a series of five of them in an arcing pattern on this pic between the "9" and "12" hour markers. Cool!

You mean since new or did you send it out to RSC for servicing?

Yeah, when did you acquire, and have you sent it to RSC yourself? And I'm not sure I'd call it 'cool'.

My new 114060 Sub had those as well. I don't think it's a defect

My 14060 has them. Very hard to see except when held under halogen lighting.

These are not swirlmarks , these are reflections from hands and hour markers on the crystal. Most rolexes have them

I would guess its either light reflecting from the edge of the crystal at certain light or angles or reflections from the chapter ring also at certain angles. Highly doubt its swirls on the crystal surface.

Update: Nope, not a reflection of the hands or hour markers. Definitely swirlies on the finish of the crystal from the Rolex factory. My YM Blue was purchased from Rolex AD in December 2012 and has never been serviced. Swirlies cannot be seen unless the angle and lighting are perfect. And yes, it looks kinda cool!

So glad someone brought this up as I didn't know how to explain it myself. Noticed these hairline "swirls/striations"on my BLNR sapphire. As OP mentioned, could only be seen in direct sunlight at the right angle. Thought I might have gotten some cape cod on it while polishing the PCLs.

Conveniently, my cyclops was very under magnified and I had the crystal replaced by RSC Beverly Hills. The swirls were still there after I got watch back with correct magnification. Called RSC and they confirm they replaced the entire crystal and not just cyclops.

Hold any rolex to the sunlight at an angle and you'll see wha the OP is talking about. sapphire only though.

All of my GMTs and my new OP39 have them, nothing to worry about

A defect, imho. Likely now out of warranty and too expensive to worry about. I'd think repairable under warranty.

Unscrew the crown and try keeping the watch in a position where the marks are clearly visible then start advancing the time and you will see the swirl marks moving around the crystal as the hands change position

my LVC has them too. But I won't call them swirlys. I'm pretty sure it's some type of light refraction. Can't really tell from your photos though.

Had these swirls on my OP. I was perplexed at first as well. After closer inspection, I agree with earlier postings that it is definitely reflections from either hands (the center portion) or rehaut.
