I'd do it, if you'll wear it. Get the 99%. The resulting collection is VERY nice!

Thanks for all the opinions on this. As much as I would love to at I own a 5970, decimating a collection that has taken me a while to assemble, seems too much to give up. Especially since I strapped on the platinum day date 2 today for the first time in a month or so and it is simply awesome. The weight of the platinum, the pure "white" and pristine clean platinum is simply breath taking and nothing close to what SS or WG looks like...

Roger, drop me a line and I will give you the contact details to the shop in HK. Heck, I may go with you to soak up a little bit of the purchase excitement while you acquire the 5970.

Common sense prevails, by the looks of it.
Whilst my reply in the duplicate thread has been removed after suggesting to one of the mods that they combine the two, it seems you read it and absorbed some of it.
Hopefully the links to other alternatives proved useful, and we may see an incoming based on them.

Going watch shopping with Roger? Terrific experience for us lot but the bane of wives and the scourge of bank managers.

Agree with this. There's nothing irreplaceable with what you would be selling and they are all modern watches still in production.

The 5970 is one of the legendary PP's...would jump at this 'consolidation' all day long. The J is understood to be the rarest of the various metals, and if you are worried about resale down the line grand comp PP's are generally among the most rock solid when it comes to watches.

Quality over quantity for sure! Even if it is a 'safe queen', I think you will derive pure enjoyment for those days you do wear it. You also have enough variety left that I would not worry.
