Has Chrono24 gotten better?

I found a good deal on a vintage sub that I've been looking for. Good example, non polished, etc etc etc. The seller would accept Paypal, but Paypal has been making me run through hoops, saying my purchase is too large, and the security keeps locking me out for whatever reason. I've called them numerous times and could not find a resolution. Originally I insisted on using Paypal for its protection services, so I'm wondering if chrono24 trusted checkout would suffice as enough protection?

The seller does not have a brick and mortar store, but seems to be a private collector/enthusiast. His website has a high trust rating on ScamAdvisor, and his instagram had been out for a while. Seller is responsive, and has been willing to work with me. Problem is that he is in Bologna, Italy, while I'm here in California.

SO. With Paypal not working out, I'm starting to consider Chrono24. The watch is a hard find in that condition, so I don't want to lose out by not jumping on it (it has happened before).

Anyone use chrono24 trusted checkout lately? I read one horror story about a leather strap being crocodile or calf or whatever, causing the watch to be held up in customs, but that would not apply to me as this watch is all gold.

By the way, his instagram is "watch_out_srl", and website is: http://watchout.co/en

To ensure he had the watch on hand, I asked him to set the watch to a specific time of my choosing, and to send me photos. He happily obliged, and provided me evidence in a timely manner.

Any advice and comments would be appreciated!!!

I have used the trusted check-out. Worked out well for me, bough inside EU so no custom worries. Of course a watch ending up in custom when shipped to the US has nothing to do with chrono24.

I actually could not find any details or stories of chrono24 purchases gone wrong.. Any help guys? People will say things like "I don't know why people buy on c24," but never any explanation to go along with the mention. Any feedback? Thanks!!

I bought a watch from there about 6 months ago from an Italian dealer and it was probably the best, easiest deal I've ever done. Your experience may differ of course but as always, buy the seller, do your research.

Has anyone ever bought from there, and needed to return? How was chrono24 like in getting your money back?

Paypal just sent out an email saying it was changing policy on what they would cover for fraud, etc. No details were included.

Haven't bought from Chrono24 but had the same headaches with PayPal. Seemed like nobody there knew what they were doing. Never used the account, closed it. Then I bought a condo and had to answer what seemed like a million questions from my lender about why the account was open. Thanks for nothing PayPal!

Look in the Watchout forum. IIRC, there were some people who had issues with purchases through C24 and couldn't get the website to do much for them.

They are an aggregator for watch sellers, not a watch seller themselves, so if your seller isn't what he seems, you're on your own.

Good news! Finally got my Paypal account released, and payment went through! Time to start an incoming thread!

By the way, they promised full protection.

Hello,
I have used chrono24 for several watch buys. A brand new speedmaster first omega in space, a Lorenz chronos sub with a lemania 5100, a Porsche design orfina with lemania 5100, and even a trade; gave my day date carrera 43mm for a zenith el primero flyback.
Never had any problem. Always used trusted sellers and I Han no problems when I had to return one of them for a full refund or asked for a partial refund regarding a service for the el primero.
So far so good...

I hope you have this in writing and that all works out for you.
C24 is a no go for me as well, as Abdullah said.

Nothing about watches

Was about making Government payments, etc, . . .

I use chrono24 to find watches which I will then go and try on. I wouldn't use it to send money or buy unseen unless I really knew the seller.

On the German forum R-L-X a member reported a few days ago that he lost 6300 Euro on a watch he bought but never arrived via Chrono.
These stories are always so sad. Best to deal with the trusted sellers

One doesn't "buy from Chrono24"... It's just a platform that puts sellers and buyers in touch.

The same like how one doesn't "buy from TRF".

That being said, C24 as a website has really gone downhill due to certain policy changes and I think it should be avoided.

I agree and I've always said the best deal is face to face for the kind of money you're spending on one of these puppies don't you agree

What policy changes are you referring to?

For instance, treating private sellers like professional sellers. Meaning, charging a very substantial success fee if the watch is sold (before, private sellers listed for free). This reduces the number of watches available and distorts the market price.
