Update on damaged Sub
First, thanks again to those forum members for the info they provided when I originally posted my tale of woe regarding damaging my Submariner (as well as the words of compassion).
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...ight=grinchcop I did send it off around the end of June via my AD, finally receiving word back on the work required and what the cost will be. RSC will be doing a full service, in addition to replacing the crystal and bezel insert. I was told that the bezel itself will be refinished, but that a couple of damaged areas might still be slightly visible. Evidently the crown and tube are also being replaced, as the crown had been damaged (which I didn't realize). After all is said and done, including shipping and tax, I will be out about $800.00. Better than I thought, but it still bites! John |

That's a bit expensive but what's better than having a fully fixed and recalibrated watch that will be faithfull to you for years to come

If your having all that done, would it be worth replacing the bezel as well

Yes, quite expensive, but less than some forum members had predicted.
RSC Beverly Hills has it right now, with its return expected at the end of the month (regulation is an issue, as it has always gained at least 10-12 seconds per day since new). The additional 2-300 dollars to replace the bezel, simply due to a couple of surface imperfections, isn't justified. Besides, this way there will always be some subtle reminders to take off the Sub prior to doing anything stupid! I posted a pic of the M/C crash-related damage in the original post. The watch and bracelet were covered with gouges and scars from daily use. John |

John:
I'm sorry for the costliness of this. I never saw the original post. You are living proof that life is an adventure and it is only a watch. Glad you are OK out of the deal. The watch can be fixed. Terry Newton

John,
I've heard BH RSC does a great job at repairs. $800 is a steep price but it will come back looking new. Keep us posted on the repairs.

I agree look at it as an investment toward future use (years to come). Congratulations

What's really adding up quickly are the shipping costs (about $50.00 each way, I am guessing). When you add the cost of the regular service, then add a new crystal and bezel insert, I'm not surprised. Oh, since the RSC being used is in my state of residence, I also am able to contribute 8% of the cost of parts to the state's coffers. I should feel honored.....
