The new GMTII
hi guys.
just a quick question.... Is it possible to purchase a standard type bracelet for the new GMT ? I am not much of a fan of the polished inserts of the new bracelet. Love the clasp style but just not the shiny of the bracelet. curious if it is possible thank you! |

Greetings,
You can get the center links brushed and thus matched aesthetically with the outer links. From what I hear this is a common practice. |

Hi Mac and welcome to TRF..........
![]() I have the GMT II C and at first I was not sure about the polished center link but after a week of wearing it I loved the look. Each to their own but IMO the bracelet suits the rest of the watch perfectly and after 2 months there are no scratches on it (and I really do not baby my watches) So I would say if you get one to leave it for a while and see if it grows on you. Regards Mike. |

![]() Not to mention that the polished center links are there just to make the watch look more balanced due to the glossy bezel

I like the polished centered look, it makes the watch vibrant. Although, I have to say that my watch did scratch pretty easily and I definitely was careful about how I treated it and how I rested my wrist. After a few weeks though, the scratches don't bother me.

that is a large concern.... if you spend the majority of your day at a desk, its bound to make the polished look horrid (much more noticeable than on brushed SS ) |

I can understand that when you have something so valuable you want it to be absolutely perfect, but I think that if you worry about it too much then it takes away from the joy of owning a Rolex. So I say buy want you really like and just enjoy it. If there is something that turns you off about a particular watch then maybe a different model will make you more happy.

I love the polished links.
You can always go from polished to brushed but visa versa may be tougher. To me its a step up in the look of the bracelet a reason why the GMT just appealed to me. I would wear it like it is and the polished bling will grow on you. If you dont like it you can always take the polished look away. I bet its a lot tougher going in reverse so make 100% sure you want to brush it. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

To me its a step up in the look of the bracelet a reason why the GMT just I bet its a lot tougher going in reverse so make 100% sure you want to brush it. Actually to polish it back is easier. You take a cloth dremel wheel, white stainless polish a very steady hand. I once polished my entire sub date before I sent it in for service and got it back perfectly brushed. It looked amazing in the bright sun. PAtrick

Looks much better IMHO with the brushed center links. More "tool" watch like as GMTs have been over the last 50 years and less bling bling. I say if you have a GMT II-C, definately get the center links brushed out.

Did the AD do the work? If so how much? Do you think altering the watch to that degree will hurt the resale value?
