awesome Brian!!! The model numbers are actually not to difficult and besides just using the generic model name is sufficient enough in most cases.

Rolex itself is full of nicknames - consider Swimpruf, Parachrom, Oysterflex.
So doubt they care as long as the money rolls in...oh, except for Rollie...don't ever call your watch a Rollie...

I'm sure Rolex actually likes these nicknames. If there are enough people that get together and create a nickname for their watches and it cathes on and essentially goes so viral that it renames the watch...that's some serious free marketing. If the average joe is talking about the "hulk" or "Pepsi" Rolex that's free advertising for the already powerful Rolex marketing machine. It goes to further increase brand and model awearness for free.

Anyone can give their watch a nickname as they please. It's their watch. No one cares.

I refuse to use/acknowledge a Rolex watch referred to as Batman or Rollie. Sounds stupid.

I don't like nicknames given to Rolexes.
I am not sure whether it's a sign of ignorance, lack of interest, laziness, or simply an attempt to sound cool.

Nicknames r fine since it is associated with certain atributes of the watch. It is inherent trait to attach familiarity to things we love. Like my old battle axe.
