Crown Does Not Fully Screw Down
I recently had my 1961 5512 with a 1560 movement serviced, and replaced the crown and tube with a new 24-700 crown/tube pair. The old crown screwed down completely, but the new one does not (see pics). My WM thought the problem might be the gasket, but even with the gasket removed the crown does not go any further.
Any experience with this issue, solutions or suggestions are much appreciated. |

Changing the crown & tube can mean that it's sticking out less or more than the old one, or the stem isn't as deep in the crown as the old one.
I suspect your stem is too long at the moment and needs shortening. But before this is done I'd have it taken off and check the crown on the tube without stem, should there be a problem with the threads you'll know before you'll have your stem shortened. |

I have the same problem with my 1960 Tudor.
New crowns are different and the stem cannot travel deep enough inside the crown. As said before try without stem, you'll see . And don't swim with the watch until the problem is solved ! Regards |
