She's right the ceramic bezel makes it more sporty and hence "younger".

The Daytona is not a dress or dressy watch. Congrats nonetheless.

Would have been interesting for her to pick between a white and black dial!

That's hilarious. My guess is that the contrast between the black and white makes the ceramic look sharper and thus maybe younger in a child's perspective. Both great timepieces. Enjoy them, cane and all!

A child's take on two Daytonas...

Beautiful watch you have there! I think it would be nice if Rolex continued the 116520. It's still a beauty. However, as pretty as those silver rings are, they do make the chronograph very hard to read in all but overcast light. Even my nine year old, with wonderful vision, couldn't easily read the sub-dials. Plain white sub-dials would be a nice option. Supposedly, the outer rings on the sub-dials on the black dial 116500LN are more matte than the highly polished silver rings of the 116520 and easier to read. I'd be curious to see how those new matte rings would look with the polished stainless steel bezel of the 116520. For that matter, I'd be curious how a Daytona would look with the case/bezel in matte, like the Explorer 2, using an Oyster bracelet without polished center links, and with matte silver sub-dials (either just the outer rings of the sub-dials or the entire sub-dial in matte silver). It could be offered at a lower price point and would be more of a tool watch. Hell, that sweep second hand could be in red or orange, to enhance its legibility. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
