Is a NEWER version of same rolex worth more?

Everything else being 'equal' - Is a NEWER version of a same model Rolex worth more (on the pre owned market)?

For example a 2009 SUB-C vs a 2014 SUB-C even though they are the same watch technically? Or is that negligibly different?

What would yield to a higher price on the newer one , warranty left for example, anything else?

Assuming both watches are in 'excellent' condition.

Warranty and general need for service. Also perception, in today's age everyone wants new this new that etc

An exception would be when one year is preferred by collectors, for example an 03 Y serial 16610lv commands a substantial premium over an 06.

I guess thats fair --

Now that I think about it for the 'same' price I would always pick the newer version...everything else being equal

Newer model may have remaining warranty or longer interval before service will be required.
I certainly place greater value on a random serial than a M serial as an example.
Watches that are perceived as "collectible" such as 16610V follow a different criteria as determined by the buyers/sellers of them.

Condition is probably the primary influencer on price but as noted, the year also impacts the value.

As many others have said, the newer the watch the higher the price it commands for the exception of some particular models.

Is it worth more? Personally I value the condition of the watch so therefore each watch is different. I chose a V serial watch over a random serial for the fact that it was in same condition but $700 cheaper. I don't really mind the serial numbers

Given the choice of modern if buy newer... Really shouldn't be worth more unless warranty is left... Id pay slightly more for older if recently serviced... I've noticed that through trusted sellers newer green tags are priced at a premium over red tags even if same condition and very similar age...

The newer watch between your examples is likely worth slightly more but there is an expiration on that valuation. 8 years from now those two watches in identical condition will likely be worth exactly the same.

yes...because the 2009 needs a service alot sooner than a 2014.....5 years to be exact
