Can anyone tell me what these numbers would be on my 2004 DJ ?

Looks like possibly a watchmaker's service mark but I've never seen one on the lug, always on the inside of the caseback. Could be a store's inventory code.

Most likely an ID number from a pawn shop in case of theft. I know a pawn owner friend who does the same exact thing with his initials on pieces he takes in to resell, but a bit less conspicuous.

Nope bought new from an AD, I have all boxes and paperwork. It's never been in for service and I just noticed it when i removed the bracelet to get a Leather strap put on. I may have to go back to the AD.

This is damage to your property. Or if it was done before you bought the watch as a New watch. Then I would ask the AD for an exchange without the markings.

Once again, a story that doesn't seem to add up. We're supposed to believe that the OP bought the watch new from the AD in 2004 and he just noticed those markings on the back of the lug 12 years later, when he went to change out the bracelet? Very hard to believe.

Mike's thought was my original thought. 2004??? Like 12 years ago?? I personally could never leave a bracelet on a watch that long without getting curious or swapping out the strap so I would have likely seen it.

Then I started wondering. When the bracelet was on that watch with the style of endlinks that would be on a watch of that period, wouldn't that spot be covered up by the endlinks??

Maybe grasping at straws here. And would not expect a dealer to do anything about it 12 years later but it is interesting. And matches up with the other post that Adam linked above.

No, you can see the indents on the lugs showing the only part that would be covered by the endlinks.

No, don't think the endlinks would cover those markings. I can't fathom not noticing that for 12 years of wearing the watch, whether or not he ever changed the bracelet.
