All's well that ends well. Enjoy the new watch and remember, as the Godfather would say, "It's only business."

Good ending and result. At least you are one of the lucky few that have one.

Good to hear its resolved and you are moving on. True, you'll never know, but at least you weren't ignored or told to get over it. Look forward to the incoming and pics!

Sounds like a bunch of hose-n-close

The good news is that my Daytona came in and I can pick it up as soon as I'm back from my trip. The bad news is that she offered me no discount on this piece, but did promise a significant discount on any other model (10% more than normal).

I have heard the "day off" alibi before. Not to beat a dead horse, but the Rolex AD sales person hose-n-close drives me absolutely nuts.

It seems to me that if there is "a list," there is only one list among the multiple sales persons/stores, and that before any waiting-list watch goes out the door, the name on the list is verified regardless of who the sales person is and whether that sales person has the "day off." "The list" should delineate who gets the first-right to the watch, not the sales person who is working that day. Sounds like commission grabbing is the un-spoken undercurrent here.

Okay, flames off.

I'm glad it all worked out and thank you for sharing your experience here such that others know which questions to ask the next time their name goes on "a list."

Out in west coast with multiple locations and a Rolex AD.
I don't think Bhindi sells PP. Great people there btw.

Haha. The Godfather would also say that the OP should have made him an offer he can't refuse!

Same here. I have a small handful of Omega, Rolex, and Tudor watches (including a 1982 DJ I purchased new) which are plenty to wear and will wait until the new Daytona Cs are more readily available; and I can justify (and save) the 12K. The problem is that I never really lusted after a Daytona, mainly because I hated the bezel. The new one totally changes the look of the watch for me and now I am stuck wanting one (Damn you Rolex!). And the white dial would fit perfectly as it would be different than my black-dialed Speedmaster and Sub.

There's a chance that the store saw an opportunity with this other guy. Here's the thing: You are a regular customer and they can expect your business, especially on this deal since you put down a $1,000 deposit. If I were them, I never would have thought that the other guy and you would make contact, so they saw an opportunity to potentially gain a new customer possibly. So what to do? I'd simply address the issue with them, and then end it there.

can mods close this?

OP flexed his No. 1 customer muscle and got his watch and that's that.
