Help with 1675 Bezel
A few days ago I received a 1675 root beer I bought from a dealer off the forums. Yesterday I was talking with my local watchmaker who specializes in vintage Rolex, and when he saw the bezel he said he felt it is off. He said the underside is different from every other 1675 bezel he'd seen and that it was enough to make him suspicious. The last picture below shows the bezel on the watch compared to another 1675 gold bezel he has in his store.
The seller I bought from has been very professional and has agreed to my returning it should I desire. I'm hoping to get some expert opinions on here regarding the authenticity of the bezel. Thanks very much. |

I would agree with your watchmaker. In the last photo, the one on the right looks more like a Sub bezel.

Interesting, thanks. Do you think that is due to the steepness of the underside of the bezel? Is there any other giveaway?

Help with 1675 Bezel
The bezel is authentic. The point about the bevel underneath your bezel and the one your watchmaker's shown you is not the point. I'd find another watchmaker since anyone can easily say if it came from a Sub.
Or you can have it returned - Michael is very understanding. Or you can have your bezel removed to see if the teeth are there to engage a unidirectional spring. A GMT Bezel is smooth inside. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, Michael has been very understanding.
The bezel actually comes off very easily, with just a little bit of pressure, and so I just took it off and took the attached photo of the inside. It appears smooth without any teeth, though to be honest I've never seen the inside of a Sub bezel and have no comparison. |

Vintage Sub bezels do not have "click spring teeth" either until the sapphire models 16800/16610 etc.

There are differences between the two - yes. Look at them again and you can clearly see the differences.

Watch looks very nice, root beer dials are neat. and that bezel is relatively easy to find so I'd just have him source another rather than try to find another clean dialed watch. 2 Cents given :-) Good luck.

From the feedback I'm getting, it sounds as if everyone agrees the bezel is indeed incorrect for the watch. Yes, that's a good idea, if the seller can source an appropriate bezel, I would be very happy with that outcome. Thank you everyone for your guidance.

Based on responses it seems that the bezel is indeed incorrect. I will take your advice and see if the seller can source a correct bezel. Thanks everyone for your input and guidance; much appreciated.

So the seller has sourced a period-correct bezel and it will be here early next week. Thanks again everyone!
