Hey all, I have the fortune of having a friend getting me a customized shirt. I've never had one before and one of the options offered to me was to increase the sleeve on the left side by .25" or .5" if I desired to better accommodate a watch. I've never felt the need for this with the 5711 it seems to lie flat and work with a regular sleeve but perhaps it would do better with a slightly enlarged cuff? Do any only you increase the sleeve on the watch arm?

First time I hear this, at the same time I get top designer shirts, yeah I love clothes, but not custom ones, with the ultra thin 5711 I think you don't really need enlargement but why not...

I've had tailors ask which wrist I wear my watch and then they cut the wrist size slightly larger on that side

My tailor cuts mine 0.25 larger and I typically wear a GMT II. Perfect fit. The 5711 is slimmer so you may not need to

Many custom shirt makers make the shirt cuff a little larger on the wrist you wear your watch. This can be 1/4" to 1/2" depending on the watch you wear.

This is usually more important when you are wearing a Rolex sports watch like the GMT that Tay821 mentioned. But it is not an issue with a typical Patek watch, although you can have your tailor make it 1/4" larger on that side, just to be make sure it won't be too restrictive. I think that is what I do with my custom shirts. Many so-so custom shirt makers won't even ask about the wrist you wear your watch or measure the length of your left and right arms separately (usually your dominant arm is little longer than your non-dominant arm for most people).

My tailor makes my left hand shirt sleeve 10'' shorter so everyone can see what watch I´m wearing.

The thin 5711 doesn´t need an enlarged cuff IMO.

just wear your watch to the tailor .. he can tell straightaway if you need a wider cuff. on a 5711 though, you don't need it.

This is what my tailor does too.

I'd recommend wearing the thickest watch you have, which might not be the 5711, when you're going to the tailor. That'll cover all bases.

I have done this in the past to accommodate my Offshores and Panerais but you will not need to with a 5711.

nope. not for the 5711. Only my 114060 Sub is a tad too think for some shirts

The 5711 slides right under my Feench cuffs, but my 15400 gets stuck.
